I couldn't help myself. With 201,000 now on the odometer, and even though my engine's running extremely stout, I could not pass on the deal I just won on Ebay. Got a newly remanufactured 3.9 Short Block from JMS Racing for $500.00 with only $100 on the shipping.

I'm calling it my rainy day plan. I'll find a set of heads and have them done and basically have a fresh motor for less than $1500. I am happy as hell!!!! :D

Well how many miles are on the one you just bought? Just curious..

It says newly-remanufactured so its questionable probably even to the OP. Sounds like a sweet deal though

Dis, your LSE is over 201k?! Damn I have a long way to go with under 80k!

+1!!!!! U sir, see where I am going with this engine....LOL. It's a blank slate to work with. :D

lol this is good too hear, i think one of the biggest isues I have with a turbo is the custom exhaust manifold, it would be ridicoulusly had to make with an engine in the car.

Us 1st Gen V8ers would be more practical to run a Supercharger because you would need to fab an intake anyways.. Because of the 'air assisted injectors'..

The lack of room in the engine compartment requires placing the turbos remotely, so manifolds are not an issue.

Use a second generation intake, or one from a Jag. Hi-zoot is to use one from an Aston Martin.

Yea, you want Hi-Po, use Aston Martin parts. The 4.3 makes 380-400HP the 4.7 makes 420HP.

Things are shaping up favorably. My buddy(Engine Stumble: 2000 model thread I created) let me get the heads off of the engine that came out of his car at no cost. The lower end was fried on it so I'm only in $500 for the short block and the $100 in shipping so far. Sending the heads off as soon as I decide what direction I want to go. The same company that I bought the short block from is doing the heads. JMSRacing out of California.

Kick is, once this is done, I am going to sell the motor in my car for a steal so if anyone is planning a project and needs an engine that's not hurt one bit(minus high miles), I have what you need.

Fast, are you still working with your oem heads or have you had them worked?

The decision has been made.... I am having a set of heads worked for this short block and not going the way of a turbo or procharger. Financially, I am keeping my cost down and can do this build, counting labor, for a bit less than $1900. I am willing to part my 3.9 for a "more" than fair asking price. Will have video of the engine for sale running in my car before it comes out. For anyone interested, inbox me for details.

Will guarantee the motor for 60 days provided that it is professionally installed.

Took you long enough! I misread the post when it first went up and just never corrected it. So we are about the same on our cars cuz I'm just below 80k.

Just my .02 cents, but it kinda would be a waste of money to get the heads worked. If you are not going with any boost, then the factory heads flow more than enough. If you want to go fast then use that money on a nitrous kit. Just my opinion though.

A P&P will give some more hp (like 20 I think quik said), but I would only have them done if the heads came off a higher mileage car..
