SCT SF3 for V6 worth it?

I've been thinking about getting the SCT SF3 for my 04 V6 and was wondering if they are worth the cost? Is anyone running one on their V6?
 
I know people have used the SCT X2(it's the generation before the SF3) and had good results. I'm told there's a good amount of power to be had on the v6 by tuning it. If you have an automatic they can change things for that too which might make your car more enjoyable to drive too. There's a few tuners around these parts that you should talk to about for a tune as they are familiar with the LS platform.

Make sure you have you car running great at "stage 0" meaning that there's nothing wrong with your engine prior to tuning. Issues could be marginal coils, spark plugs that need changing and up to having compression issues. So if there's any maintaince or repairs of the drivetrain you've been putting off make sure you get them replaced/repaired before you get a tune.

I'm going to get the pro racer package now that I have my 01' v6 LS running like new again. Actually I'm going to wait until I install a wide-band O2 sensor first then I'll get the pro racer package.
 
If you can afford it a dyno tune is even better.

But an email tune is better than nothing.
 
the sf3 is supposed to have some preloaded dyno tunes on it. the shop i talked to around here told me i should be more than satisfied with the preloaded tunes and a dyno tune really isn't needed since the car is stock.
 
the tunes that come on the device are "canned tunes" meaning that they are the same for ever car, a dyno tune means that they put YOUR car on a dyno and then tune it, there could be slight difference or issues that a dyno tune will show that a canned tune will not. also you can usually squeeze a little more out of a dyno tune because they can see exactly what your car is doing and make adjustments from there, with a canned tune it has to be good enough to work on any car right out of the box.


however, because of the price of a dyno tune, it may be a little more than what a completely stock ls needs, that being said, ordering the tune from a person that actually works on this car (like torrie for example) is even better than the tunes that come from the manufacture as he has a better understanding of what these car like and how it responds to different adjustments and can customize the tune to what you want.

long story short, buy the device from someone like torrie instead of a website just selling the devices, the preloaded tunes are better than nothing but a good tuner can maximize it for your application, even if stock.

also i have no idea if anybody does tunes for V6's
 
looks like the sct sf3 does NOT come preloaded like i was told by a dealer. does anyone make custom tunes for the v6?
 
Verdict - Yes, well worth it!

I paid $250 for a used, unlocked SCT SF3 and $150 for some tunes from torrie(who is a great person to work with by the way), and I couldn't be more happy with the way the V6 feels now!

I have it set to the "Aggressive" tune and finally had a chance to get on it this morning and its night and day. This is how the car should have felt from the factory.
 
I thought Torrie sold those with the tunes already for $400.
