im getting a rotten eggs smell from my car. now im pretty sure that has to do with my cats...

so do i need to replace all of them. or what? or could it just be my 3rd cat? because im going to do a 3rd cat delete anyways (will my car go threw emissions test with out the 3rd cat)

Thanks,

btw by cats, i mean catalytic converter.

Get rid of the 3rd cat. If you have the quasi-duals, just put a Y-pipe in there. Or go true dual. The 3rd cat is probably the culprit making the smell. My wife's '97 LSC had the same problem. It stunk like rotten eggs any time you gave it the beans to pass somebody or just to get on it. Got rid of the 3rd cat and the smell was gone. However, that cat got clogged for a reason. You probably need new oxygen sensors. I know I do, I just haven't gotten them yet.

how do i check to see if i need a new sensor.

just got payed. maybe ill throw on a new Y pipe. or maybe true duals. what size y pipe would i need. i think its 2.5"? will any Y pipe fit? also the car has bin bogging down when its cold. after it warms up its fine.

Thanks,

Thanks,

would throw a check engine light...i would see if "don pfau" still has that exhaust for sale...I think he lives in NC..drive to him and have that set up installed.

i cant go all the way up to NY. thats a 5 hour drive. also im not getting a check engine light. so my sensor is good. i just need to replace the 3rd cat. how easy is it to put a Y pipe in its place? i dont have a welder so i cant weld.

not true.
the car is only going to threw a light if its out of the threshold. if its still within threshold, that doesn't mean it isn't bad.
now, i'm not saying it is bad, but no CEL does not equal no problems.

If I recall he is from North Carolina...

Or you have an idiot of a friend that is playing a joke on you and stuck a hard boiled egg in your duct work or elsewhere. Ask me how I know this rotten trick, I am guilty of it as a youth biscuit myself.

LMAO, all my friends know not to :q:q:q:q with my lincoln. they know im armed. :D

If I had to do it over I would first forgo the mufflers to see if I liked the sound...the reason I say this is the exhaust shop that installed my system, which is a shop with a high level of respect in my neck of the woods, said that it sounded awesome with straight pipes...I have the double x pipes with LMS mufflers...another reason is I like the look of the straight pipes vs. the mufflers...just my .02...go for it this will be the best mod you do for the money...

a guy i met from kc has a 96 lsc, so factory dual exhaust, with a muffler delete. sounded great.

what is the purpose of a X pipe or H pipe? to even out the pressure/sound coming out of the pipes?

Basically. It also helps with scavenging and you get a small power gain from it. Don't go duals with no crossover or your exhaust will have an ugly raspy/flappy sound to it.
