LS engine dies at 65,000 miles

Oops

I'm little by little re-doing the Jag engine with custom pistons and aluminum rods, among other things. It'll be installed sometime this winter.

Sorry to have ruffled feathers; I WAS commenting on the propriety of posting the idea of going to a ricer in a Lincoln forum, not on any mechanical ability or lack thereof. (Thanks, Joe)

There's little but hard work connected with swapping an engine. You can often find a 'back-yard "Wrench"' who'll do the work for much less than in a more formal situation. In fact, read the comments above---there have been offers to do the work for a grand.

Hilux? Ricer?

I don't think Ricers are tall enough to get into a Hilux! (zing!)

fair enough.

i don't really think of the Hilux / Tacoma as a "ricer". I thought a ricer was something like a Civic, with decals, a busted muffler and a big plastic rear spoiler.

if it makes you feel any better, i'm thinking about an f-150, but i don't need that much truck.

i could maybe squeeze some $$ out of this LS, by repairing and selling, or repairing and continuing to drive it. I just don't have the will anymore, I'm about ready to close this chapter.

Finding somebody competent to correctly swap a new engine in for a total of $1000-$1500 probably isn't impossible, but you've gotta know the right man for the job, otherwise you're taking a major risk. I don't know the right people. With my luck and experience, I could see myself ending up with another busted LS, and $2000 down the drain.
