Does anyone know where I can find the Oil Pressure Switch (sensor) on a 2003 Lincoln LS. V6.

I attempted to find it today and think that I did, but it is so tightly squeezed behind the dipstick "holder" (i guess thats what it is called) towards the bottom of the engine, that I can only see a harness connector. I can't even get a hand on it, much less a tool. I'm about 85% sure this is the switch though. I read somewhere that in the V8 it was located near the oil filter, but it definitely isn't there on the V6.

If anyone is familiar with this, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks.

By the dipstick tube is where the manual shows it.

Looks like in front of the left exhaust manifold..........

Yup, I think that's what I found. Towards the bottom of the dipstick tube. There is actually two sensors there, one above the other, I believe. Just out of curiosity, is it the higher or lower of the two??

I say out of curiosity, because in order to get to either one, requires a lot of work. It's not accessible from under the car at all. From above, the fit was too tight for me to even get my hand into. I was able to touch the connector after squeezing and scraping (my hand), but was unable to even compress the connector to even get off. Not that it would have made a difference if I did, other than maybe gettin a glimpse of the connection to see if it matched the replacement part. Couldn't even see the sensor, only the wires going into the connector. Damn newer cars....ha

I'm going to call the shop tomorrow and see what they quote me on labor for replacing. I'm going to guess a minimum of 1.5 hours (or $75*1.5 = 112.5), hopefully I'm wrong.

Thanks for the info!!...

Depending on the "shop", and your area, the labor rate seems low, maybe more like $100/$125.

Thanks for the pic "LS4me" !!...

Ya, that is definitely what I found, now I'm 100% sure.

The manual sure makes it seem accessible, ha,ha....

That pic rotates the engine at least 45 degrees CCW and removes all the obstructions.

I appreciate it though.

Well that eliminates my "easy fix" for my oil light coming on. Have no choice but, to take it to a shop now.

LS4me gave me an idea, well his picture of the manual did. I was able to stick my camera in the tight space and actually caught a pic of what I was attempting to reach and there actually is an Oil Pressure Switch there. ;)

Good news is the switch seems to have an oil film on the threads and base of connector, I'm taking this as meaning possible switch failure. Better than oil pump or engine.

Thanks.

Wow, that would be insane...ha,ha....It's only $75-80 here. Dealer is even mid 90's. Guess I should at least be thankful for that. :)
