Is my water pump dying out?

So 2 months ago my water pump broke and the mechanic put a new one in. Today I was idling and I noticed coolant by my passenger tire. I checked to see where the leak was coming from and it looks to be where the water pump is. Its not at the coolant hoses or the heater core hoses. Is there a way to test the water pump? Also my temp gauge isn't rising that high either. Thanks
 
It'd literally take you 5 minutes to take out your water pump and check it I cant believe you payed for someone to do it, I honestly think it's one of the easiest peices on the motor to replace!
 
I would bring it back to the mechanic but I had a falling out with him. I think I may just buy one from autozone tomorrow and if it stops the leak thats great, if not I will return it and see what else is causing the leak. I really hate throwing money at parts but I need to drive for work
 
So I got a new water pump from autozone. But my trouble is I cannot take off the 4 bolt that holds on the water pump cover. Every time I try to take it off the cover just moves. I even tried by removing the belt but that made it spin even more. I only have access to hand tools what would be the best way to remove the bolts? thanks
 
use 2 wrenches, hold one and spin the other, then back out 3 of them and put a screwdriver between them and break the 4th loose. oh and its called a pulley ;)
 
I am going to try with an open ended wrench tomorrow.
 
It's not a cover..that's the pulley..

Take a screw driver and lay it across the pulley, have the tip resting on the
edge of the center where the pump comes thru the pulley, rotate the pulley so one of the bolts catches the shaft of the screw driver ...use a closed end wrench so you don't round the bolt heads off when breaking them loose
