Loose front wheel hub

The guy I bought my '97 from had the driver's side front wheel hub replaced and I think it is loose. Can I just tighten up the nut or do I have to replace the nut? How can I tell if it is just loose or if it is the bearing?

Make sure the nut is tight, and see if there is slop in the hub. If it moves side to side/ up and down, then it is time to replace. They are pretty cheap units to replace.

it was replaced in 5-23-10, do you think it is just loose?

It all depends. Some can crap out in a month, others will last for years. I would think it is just loose, but only one way to find out, yank the wheel and try to snug it up.

Torque spec on our front hub nut is 221ft lbs
