Does anyone know what is required to service the park brake besides taking it to the dealing. Is there a way to reset or turn off the Service park brake in the dashboard. Thanks LVC.

This one shouldn't be a problem. One of two things has probably happened.

1. The battery ran a little low due to the no start condition and all the testing and attempted starts done.
In this case, the problem will clear itself after a drive or two. (The service light will be off the next time you start it.) Be sure to set the parking brake each time you park. (You should always do this, but at least do it until the service light goes out.)

2. They disconnected the battery while doing the repairs.
In this case, the message center will prompt you to apply and release the parking brake. After that it will be okay and the service light will go off.

Great!!! I will try this once home. Any ideas on how to replace the PVC valve? I'm nearing 100,000 maintanance.

It's really easy on the V8s that I have. They don't have one. I haven't done too much with the V6's.

Well that's good to know since I too owe a 2004 V8. Thanks. Now if I can get this park brake light off I can finish the week out on a good note.

Here's the story.
There is a TSB out on the 2004 parking brake module saying to replace it if the service light comes on now and then. Apparently, you (like me) never got around to taking it in for this while the warranty was in effect. I've found that the problem seems to be related to how low the battery voltage drops while starting the car. You can also make it happen on demand if you cycle the key on and off at the right rate.
It got more frequent as my battery got older/weaker. It [the service light coming on] has been very rare since replacing the battery. It always clears the next time (or so) that I start it.

Yeah, use to happen to me everytime I would jump my car when my battery died, my old battery was bad it would die often. It hasn't happened once since I got the new battery and since it hasn't died on me yet.
