how many amps are going into the corner bulb?, the one thats behind the amber on a gen 1, thanks

i got a bright led bulb that i want to convert to make it a 3157 bulb, the led i have uses the same amount of power as 2 AA bateries would, which is about 2.5 max, im just going to hook up the contacts and see if burns out

WHen you say the led draws 2.5. What do you mean? AMPS? VOLTS? milliAmps? 2.5 AMPS would be a hefty charge for a little light bulb.

One specification for this bulb does show it as a dual light with upto 2.1AMP draw so could be a fair amount of current available at the socket.

Keep in mind the voltage supplied by the car's electrical system is about 12 volts. The side markers probably pull less than 2 AMPs.

You will need to adapt the LED to work off of 12volts. Most are between 1volt to maybe 5 volts. I haven't tried this, so I would need to do some thinking about how to do this from scratch. Just plugging it in will probably result in the LED being very bright for awhile and then poof.

I know it can be done, there are plenty of aftermarket sets.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

thanks heres a pic, im thinking it can handle it

i took it out of a flashlight, its super bright with 2 AA batteries, less bright with 1, two batteries is giving it about 3 amps of continuous power, these have a resistor build into it too
