gen 1 differences from gen 2:

alright this is where my noob shows with regard to the ls. if we were talking camaro/firebird gen stuff id be lights out. however we are not so its question time.

i know the basics i think. slightly different front and rear bumpers. slightly different dash. 20+ hp/tq.

can someone elaborate more for me as im sure im missing stuff.

was i wrong to to go with an 01? should i have bumped it up a few years?

thanks in advance for the feedback!

there where over 500 changes to the 03 model and almost 400 threads covering them
for the complete list

for starters better controlled heated seats, cooled seats, auto down AND auto up for the front two windows, much bigger center console, no damn ninja cup holders, real wood, VVT, HID's, Better flowing exhaust, exhaust cutouts in rear bumper, led third brake light, windshield washer nozzles removed from hood, different headlights, different tail lights, different license plate surround, no stupid hydraulic fan BS, bigger ball joints, different gauge cluster, different computer language, global position system, THX sound system, small change in the grill, the LS on the front fender has been removed...

oh yea dont forget about the 100k mile extended factory warranty

instead of waiting around for a response, you could always search for yourself and get immediate results

should i have bumped it up a few years?
Yes
was i wrong to to go with an 01?
No, an older LS is much better than no LS.lol

ok well can we maybe put a complete list together? i dont know about you but i cant read 400 threads. not enough time for that.

also looked at the wiki. not seeing 500 changes there.

There's a list somewhere I can't find it, but do you seriously expect one of us to type up a list of the 500 changes for you?

not really, i was looking for major stuff. i really dont care about minor changes. to be honest i had no idea they would have 500 changes in one year.

i already said its been done 400 times before

i dont know about you but i cant read 400 threads.

well thanks for making it 401, every list is always the same

if you want an even easier way, just wait until you have had the car for at least 6 months, then go and drive a fully loaded 06, every thing that annoyed you about the 1st gen has been fixed with the 2nd gen

alright i have briefly read the links you added 1loudls. but seriously why be such jerks for no reason? also ls4me you couldnt list them all to save your life. unless you have a copy. so then all you have to do is copy and paste.

search link...

yes, basically when somebody gives you a search link, it means that they want you to search for the answer yourself, putting forth a little effort on your part goes a long way toward getting help.

thanks...will do!

but seriously why be such jerks for no reason?

because its ridiculous that EVERY single time a new member joins, they always ask the exact same questions, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. it just get repetitive typing the same answers all the time, now if somebody was to do a little research and want more specifics or clarification on something we would be more than willing to help,

i did give you all of the thing that i could think of off of the top of my head, but it took a few mins to type it all out, and for the effort i put forth, i get to give people a little ribbing.
plus we find that if we jump on a rookie's back right away, they see how much it bother some of us and they actually try to search it out for themselves the next time.

repetitive threads, just make it more difficult to search through to find the info you want, instead of a few threads full of info, we need to filter through many many redundant thread where the busy smart people that have all the answers dont have the time to sit down and type out the same sh!t every week

Its called tough love, we all give it and we all get it. since ive been a member here i have probably made less than five threads, because i know that im not the first person to think what im gonna ask, so i search around and usually find very in depth conversations about exactly what im wondering, and just have to do a little reading to get my answers, it works every time

that and also i'm a dick

One way and another, that about says it all.

FWIW, I don't feel deprived because I have an '02. For each drawback, more-or-less, there's a benefit. (I don't have to futz with drive-by-wire, etc.) There have been several genuinely nice touches on the later cars, but anything I really need is available in the aftermarket.

I am happy to point out evertime this question gets asked that Gen2 owners are douchebags. That is the primary difference. :D

whatever, go drive around with your dumb ninja cup holders, way too small center console, and sweaty ass in the summer time

my cooled seats will beat your hood nozzles any day!

To each their own...

I don't think that I have ever said that gen II is better than gen I, but if I have, I apologize.
I have said (or intended to say) several times that I like the gen II better and I have advised those who asked to try a gen II. I base this on the fact that I have driven both, and the gen II just fit me much better. I never would have bought an LS if only the gen I were available. Your experience (obviously) is different.

It was the 500+ changes that got me to commit to my 2004 buy.

i know that there have been a few people that have bought 2nd gens after owning 1st gens, but has anybody ever bought a 1st gen after owning a 2nd gen (and buying it for somebody else doesn't count, your not the one dealing with it)

Joe, I honestly don't care. I just enjoy the opportunity to give people a ribbing about once a month when the question comes up. I really wanted a Gen2 when I bought mine, but I couldn't find one for the right price.
