:eek:Hey guys, don't ever remember reading about this but it has happened twice in 1 week. I drive my car about 60 miles and shut it off for awhile and when I get back in and start the car the rpm's go over 3000 and it kicks into failsafe mode and starts to miss like crazy. The code flashes as it's doing this and I instantly shut it down. The temp guage shows normal and it's full of coolant, no leaks anywhere. When I restart the car it works normal, no codes, no miss, nothing. Has anyone ever had this happen? If so, maybe you can shed some light on this cause it's weird and I'm not sure where I should start. It's a 04, v8 sport. Thanks.

A flashing check engine light on the LS indicates one and only one thing, misfire. While it could be due to any one of several possible causes, I'd bet on one or more failing COPs.

COP's good place to start looking

had the same problem... every once in a while that would happen. took it to autozone and pulled the codes. misfire on 3 and 4. replaces all COPS on passenger side and replaced the valve cover gasket and put new plugs in whilest i was elbow deep in the thing. (lots and lots of oil in the plug wells... )

Running smoooooth.

i see your bet, and i'll raise you a VCG lol

sounds like the old failing coil trick to me!

if i had a dollar for every problem that was solved by replacing coils, I'd be typing this from Hawaii!
