I was doing some spring cleaning and found a bunch of stuff in my basement and I figured I'd ask a few questions about a couple amps and subs that are currently collecting dust - I know very little about car audio so any input is appreciated. I know these aren't necessarily just LS related questions, but I know many of you have a lot of knowledge and experience with car audio so hopefully I'll learn a bit.

Both of these amps came out of cars I previously owned - they were already installed when I bought the cars.

The Blaupunkt (BPA 2120B) powered two 12" kickers in one of my cars and I do remember it sounded pretty good.

The Alpine (4/3/2 Channel amp - MRV - F400S) powered to 15" free air kickers in another car.

Basically, I was just wondering if this stuff is any good - not really looking to put it in the LS, but trying to find out some info about it. I know free air subs have some major drawbacks and to be honest, I think the 2 12's sounded better than those 15's.

that alpine amp is def a good amp even by today standards....which is wierd becuz older stuff is way higher quality. the subs you can probably do without but they are some kicker 4 ohm free air woofers as i can c from the pic and the amp looks like a 2 channel amp. blaupunkt doesnt really make too much stuff as of now but it made some ok stuff back then.

the first amp is garbage most of what they made, when it was decently crafted, wasn't ALL that much to begin with the best i can remember, could use it to put a small stereo system in the basement or garage but nothing worth putting in ur car. the second amp seems to be in good working condition and should puts out some wattage i have 2 Alpines in the LS. 1 that is operational all the time and the other for when i wanna piss of the neighbors. The Speaker Box...well is just that. May be able to find some teenage / H.S. kid and sell them for $25-50 bucks if you are looking to just get rid of them.

lol...i tried to b nice and say it made some ok stuff...which at one point wasnt too bad compared to some of the other crap out at the time...but ok fine...its not the BEST if u ask me...

i wouldnt mind having the kicker woofers(not the box or anything theyre in now). pm me if you feel like getting rid of them.

I have been running two Alpine V12 amps in my cars for the last ten years now, and they have never clipped, or blown a fuse on me once. They are very high quality, and by todays standards will probably hold up better than most of what is out on the market today. I even have an extra heatsink for that specific amp that was used to hide the wires for a cleaner install look. Blaupunkt made decent stuff back in the day, but had a lot of complaints due to the equipment not being very user friendly. That Alpine should keep going for years though, and I would just sell the other one at a garage sale.
