I searched thru some threads & found one on the shark fin antenna which most didn't like. I want to put an antenna on my roof for my GPS not a dummy one. has anyone done this? Any suggestions on one that looks good on the LS?

Thanks!

My GPS antenna sits right here for now. Inside the car, right where the windshied meets the dash:

That's where I have mine too. My thinking was if I put one of the antenna's that you see on all the newer cars it would work better then the little one in the window. The cars with an antenna on the roof that I've been in are much more accurate than mine.

I've never had any issues with reception. Maybe a little with accuracy (sometimes it will jump to the frontage road instead of the interstate or something), but how damn close do you need the accuracy to be?

I had mine for the GPS in the same spot as pektel and my satellite radio antenna sitting on the rear shelf. Never had an issue with either and did them that way because there was no way I was putting that stuff on the outside of the car. Helped to attract less attention to what's inside the car.

The factory nav antenna is inside the dash, and it seems to work pretty well. The rear package tray also seems to have a spot intended for a GPS antenna. Under the trim is a sunken part of the metal and the insulation on the trim has a cut out place to accommodate something the size of a GPS antenna. With either location, the GPS antenna doesn't show, even from inside the car.

Mine is in the same spot and I have never had a problem with it. The LS not having an antenna on the outside of the car is one of the things I like most about my LS.

mine is in pretty much the same place as pete's except for its under that panel

I was thinking of relocating it under there, as it's a perfect spot for it. I'm just sick of working on cars right now. After having to remount my amp (just had to do a longer ground wire), swapping coils, brakes on the girlfriend's blazer, sway bar linkage on the gf's blazer (which sucked because I had no sawzall to cut the old one off. I had to use my little dremel and a cutting wheel lol) and the degas bottle coming in on wednesday, I've had enough of working on them. Although that change should take all of 3 minutes.

Hey Pektel, where did you mount your amp. Curious to see where everyone else has mounted thiers...

In our 2000 I put it behind the left trunk trim piece. There is a space between the fender and a support piece. Pull the trim back and you will see what I mean. You can also mount it on the seat back.
