Determining Previous Warranty Work

Is there any way to know what (if any) work has previously been done on a car with just the VIN? I picked up a 2005 LS8 recently, and would like to know if the coils have been done under the extended warranty, among other things.

Ford keeps a record of all work done at any Ford dealer. You may be able to get to it by registering (with your VIN) as an owner on Lincoln's web site. If not, any dealer can look it up.
