Question about tail lights

I was looking at my tail lights and noticed that the rubber seal around them is dry rotted. Some of you may remember my post about getting water in my trunk. I was wondering could water possibly be getting past the tail light when I wash the car and when it rain. Any input from you guys would be helpful. Thanks.

no, the wires them selves have another grommet that seals the hole into the trunk, so even if the outer most seal is shot, the inner one will seal out the water.
