I experience an intermittent bump ( Just like when the trans bangs when put in reverse, also intermittent) on the downshift from 2nd to 1st. This occurs mostly in traffic when car is up to temp. I assume its the valve body but any other likely suspects? T.I.A for any advise. 3.0L stnd auto trans.

Sounds to me but could be wrong clutch plate sticking.

Mine did this exact same thing although I have an 03 v8. I took it to the dealer and they flashed the pcm and it never did it again...
I wonder if my car has the latest software rev. Im going to go to the dealer this week and see. The problem is so intermittent till its starts (stuck in traffic) but when it does it feels like the drive shafts going to damage the dif.
