What is the stall speed on a stock mark viii converter? Do you really need after market stall converter with a 373 gear with boost or nitrous?
a good convertor from a vendor such as Circle D is hands down one of the best mods you can do to a mark 8.
no less than a 3200 stall, otherwise your wasting your time
I'd suggest a 3800 stall w/373's.
I have been told 2500. Our cars have a higher then usual factory stall. And everything they said 100%.

+1Invest in a transmission cooler if you don't already have one.
I have to disagree here. Highway mileage won't be affected with the convertor locked up but around down I lost mileage. Still worth it IMHO though.A mild stall (in that 3200-3800 range) works well in any application, n/a or power added. As long as it is a fully locking converter it won't have a negative impact on your mpg as well.

I have a 3500 stall with 4.10s(started witht the stock 3.07s) and while it was to much with the stock gears for my tastes with the 4.10s I should have gone with a looser converter. I'm to lazy to pull it out again and have it restalled. Very happy with Circle D though.
