Just did a round trip few weeks ago from Clarksville, TN to Killeen, TX visiting family...

Bug juice all over my side view mirrors, and it seems to be stuck to the paint...anyway to get this muck off?

Yep. Clay bar. Check out your local autozone. Get the Clay Magic kit.

Although I normally use a gel type cleaner like Surf City Road Trip Grime Destroyer. It works very well, and some places have it OTC. I order all of my detailing stuff online. I saturate the surface with the gel, let it sit for a couple minutes, then hit it with my pressure washer.

yup, the best way to get Texas bugs off your car is to rub dirt/claybar on them.
(nods)
I use clay often..specially on the Texas bugs

Haha, Texas bugs worse than any other state's bugs? Such as Arkansas or Tennessee?

By the way, I hate driving through Tennessee/Arkansas. The worse roads I have EVER encountered. Pot holes the size of lakes...they should really do something about them.

I haven't found the Surf City stuff at Autozone, but I did some Meguire's Clay Bar, I guess it's for smoothing out small scratches and stuff?

Now if I use this Clay Bar, and it removes the Bug Juice, will it be permanently gone? Or does it just make it less noticeable?

It will remove it completely. It won't help with scratches. It also won't help if the bug guts have etched the clear coat. But it will remove all the residue.

Hey! I used to live on Jack Miller Blvd across from Gate 1, another member on here used to live in Clarksville as well..

Are you a fellow 101st Airborne Soldier?

I work at the Airfield through Gate 7. 101st Combat Aviatian Brigade.

I live off Whitfield kind of close to Clarksville Mall.

I miss Texas though.

SIMPLE GREEN!?! Really? It doesn't eat the paint? How long does it take for the bug juice to eat through the paint/clear coat? It's snowing so I haven't really washed the car in weeks! Im so burdened by it, it drives me nutts everytime I wake up in the morning and look at my car...

Simple green won't eat the paint at all. I've left it on thier for a couple days by accident before. Just mist all the bugs on the front and with the snow, they will start falling off by them selves.

I use to do that as a trick. If i knew it was gonna pour the next day would spray the whole front of my truck that night. After 70 mph for a hour on the highway all the bugs are pretty much gone.

Far as bugs eating thru the clear coat I'm not sure. I think the little bit of acid they have in them does it.

Ex-101st Soldier haha

2BCT 1-75 Cavalry!

Fukk I miss that place..

I dont know if he's still there but theres a black Gen2 thats bagged with Magnaflows, guy goes by the name Q, he's in 1BCT, not on this site but he's a good guy.

I've never heard of Simple Green harming painted surfaces. Just make sure you dilute it first. DO NOT USE IT ON UNCOATED ALUMINUM.
