So after looking most of the night at all the threads on the search page I could not find my answer. I now ask all of you for some advice. Im trying to replace my inner tie rod and it has been an easy job so far but I cant get the stupid pin out! Any suggestions on a way to do this?

Is it a pin or a rivet? If it's the rivet shear it off with force. I also believe there may be a set screw allen head.

Its a rivet... Ive been beating the hell out of it with a punch and it is not going anywhere.

turn the rack all the way to one side, that exposes the entire inner end, and the rack gear behind it.

get a large crecent wrench or good set of channel locks and grab CARFEFULLY the rack gear, you want to prevent the rack gear from twisting while you or someone else turns the large end of the inner tie rod end, thus shearing off that crappy little rivet.

pay particular attention to NOT putting too much rotational force on the rack gear..

meh it aint all that bad, it's been the same damned rack since the mustang II it AINT that complicated...

I've changed ALLLLLLLLLOT of inner tie rod ends in my days...

What o-rings?

the ones I forgot to mention to NoLimit95 that liked to burned his freaking house down..did burn his car down...

Just check yours to be on the safe side, that is my overall disclaimer and I should add it to my sig file.

Well the o-rings look good even if I dont know what o-rings to look for. I must say with the right angle I was able to bust off the p.o.s. rivet and get rid or mister floppy(old tie rod) and now about ready to put on mister happy and firm(new tie rod). So many THANKS to everyone!!!

should be smooth sailing from here on out.

BRB gotta run next door and check on my LCA job that's in progress.
Lolz

Well back together!!! Now off to get it aligned I will post how out of alignment it was when I get back!!! Once again... Thanks!
