So I was getting ready to go down to Phoenix for the day and while I was driving around town running some errands, my car just started dying on me. It died while I was driving and I was able to pull over. The thing is I got my system done about 2-3 weeks ago and with the system I also got a new red top optima battery. Problem is I don't think it was set up correctly. The dash said something about the charge system. I couldn't jumpstart it either because my sub box doesn't just come right out of the trunk and its over the battery in the trunk. Does anyone have any ideas?? I thought there were terminals under the hood so I could jump start it from the hood but I guess not. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I think I remember reading that there is a bolt or something in one of the wheels wells were you can jump start the car

EDIT: Found it

there is a postive jump post in the inside of the passenger wheel well.

You probably need to put a full charge on the battery, hope its not venting into your cabin if there is a charging system problem. You have to get to your battery and check the connection's.

word. thanks alax. ill try it out tomorrow to see if i can at least get it to the shop that did my system and have them get to the battery so it can get a full charge on it.

I got tired of getting everything out of my trunk to jumo start my car everytime so I got a extension to the + terminal and placed it in trunk outside the spare tire well. Tied my little jump starter on the right corner and place the + terminal there for easy access. I just sanded one of the metal hook for ground. I have used it about three times already and its so much faster. Hook it up, turn the ke, close the trunk. No more hassle and it will come in handy if I ever get subs, I wont need to take them out of the trunk to get to the battery.

No problem, I also read you can find a connection on the starter to charge the battery.

This is the thread with that info

so i checked that out and theres a problem with the pos post in the passenger wheel well...It says to remove the wheel then the fender lining and since i can't get to the jack in my car and nobody is around today with a real car jack it looks like i'm SOL. definately appreciate the help though alax

Oh wow. From the other pictures you posted it looked like these was a little more room. The jump starter I have is pretty small. The + post can be placed anywher. I drilled a hole in where it is now because the hole that was there already was a little too big. You can put the + post in the little space you jave and you still have the little hook exposed to use for ground.

You can also get one of those jump start devices that hook up to the cigarret lighter

i'm probaly just going to go this route. however, i was hoping that since i bought a brand NEW red top optima battery i wouldn't have to go through any of this, and i'm even running a one farad cap for the system...

what's with everyone putting their subs in reverse in the trunk? It's the most stupid idea (and fad) besides lambo doors! THey are'nt pointing towards you so you can't enjoy the sound. You practically cut it off by having it controlled (boxed) in the rear. Are you hoping the people behind you can here your Enrique Inglesias? or sumthin? Why? If you were so caring about your music you'd have the subs face the direction towards the cabin and then you'd have room to get to your battery.

funny, because i've had a system with the front of the subs facing forward, and i like it alot better the way they are now. and this was for advice on my battery situation, thanks for your criticism though.

also that red top optima battery is just for starting. Its not made for stereo systems. You want to Yellow top

I'm lucky, I have a fail safe if the battery goes died. I opted for the in gear start option, only 2331 of them make ;)

I love my 5 speed LS

Just after I bought it the battery went, needed to push start it 3 times in a row before I sucked it up and bought a battery. Oh and the battery was like $112 from the dealership. Almost no one carried it and if they did it cost more. I'm pretty sure they were just buying it from the dealer and marking it up. I knew this because when I worked at sears auto center I had to do that a few times.

You definitely don't know much about sub boxes, these are "sub woofer" as in sub frequencies. they do not produce mid's like voices and cymbals just ultra low sounds. Facing speakers back helps load the speaker and controls distortion, If you were to pull those speakers out and just face them forward you would probably not even hear them except for crackling distortion. Also the stereo did not cause the charging problems, probably just coincidence, and the alternator is dead.

Thank you. I don't think its the alternator though. I think its something with the fuel pump because when my tank is 3/4-full it runs fine. I just don't get it. I'm gonna bring it in and have it checked again. This time i'm going to make sure they figure it out before I pick it up.
