5 Speed production number

How do I find out which one of the 2331 manuals that were made is mine? I searched on google and could only find the factory output production number, not the number referenced for the 5 speeds?
 
I don't think you will find your number of the 2,331 produced between 2000 and 2002 other than your 2001 was in the middle.

There has to be a way to get hold of production numbers and trace it.

There does seem to be more 2000 5 speeds and 2002 seem extra rare.
 
Maybe the VIN could help. Does ppl at the dealer have access to that information somehow?
 
I can give you my VIN perduction number if that would help...
I haven't called the dealer yet, something tells me they wouldn't do it because they'd be to busy to want to.
 
The last 6 numbers in your VIN is the production sequence number. However, I don't think that will not tell you which number your's is, as far as which v6 manual. It will just tell you number in the assembly line.

The "production sequence numbers" aren't sequential, they're randomly assigned, so it won't even tell you where it was in the assembly sequence. You can't really tell much from it, because the car with the next lower number (if it's even assigned) might be a Town Car and the LS ahead of it on the assembly line might have had a higher number.

As Frogman suggested, you might try calling Ford; they'd be the ones with the production records, and consulting those records is pretty much the only way you'll be able to find out when the other manual-trans'd LSes were built.
 
Thanks. I was guessing as to what it exactly meant. But " production sequence" would lead one to believe it was the number on the assembly line.
 
The Ford guy might just pull a number out of his ass. How will you know? :shifty: :D

Yeah, you would think a "Production Sequence Number" would be, well, sequential, but apparently the logic train didn't quite make it to the station on that one...
 
Damn, this might be harder then I though. It's worth a try for the price of a stamp.

Good one !!! If mechanicboy finds out his number, I wanna know mine for sure. And who know how many of us will. If my 00 has a higher number than his 01 then the Ford guy is BSing.
 
Some people were able to get some pretty descriptive break downs of the 98 Mark VIII build info back in the day... it's worth a shot.
 
I think I have what you want, the list of all the LS Manuals built, sorted by VIN with build dates and much more info. Give me your email and I will send it to you.
 
Well I have updated information on this.

I have a list with arrival dates, not production dates. Not only that but there were 5 5-speed LS that "arrived" on the same date that mine did. There are also 15 vin numbers that are missing arrival dates.

I could go by warranty start dates, but that's just based on the sale date.

Well anyway, but best guess is that my car is #1470 of 2331.
