2 kinetik 1800 for my sound system

I am sooo over those dumb loud systems...

Hit 166db in a seat panda with one 18 and you just quit...

I want clarity, speed and accuracy now. I listen to way too diverse of music for a solely db system...

Sq is where its at...

Off the top of anyone's head......What gauge positive battery cable runs from the Alternator back to the battery? Is it 4 gauge already(doubt it with my luck but can't hurt to ask anyway). And what path does the cable take? Under the car or is the carpet coming up? About to do the Big 3.

Thanks.

yes its 4 awg'ish, by the looks, but who knows how thick the insulation is,

Just wanted to know if anyone knew for sure how it ran to the trunk in order to find the path of "least resistance"...lol. I had to pun it. ;)

it runs down the passenger side of the car, under the carpet right along the edge with all the other wires in the car, inside the plastic wire protecter

I spoke to Quik and he stated that he thinks it's a pretty light weight cable. I'd rather be safe than sorry than take a chance with thin insulation. Especially with a 200amp alternator current. I'll have new run put in and call it a day.

Thanks for getting back to me Loud. Much appreciated.

you got to figure that the cable has to be pretty thick to deliver enough amperage to start the car (battery to starter) and not have a huge drop due to resistance. even though its only for a couple seconds, that wire is carrying well over the amperage of any H/O alt

This is where it gets interesting....dbelectrical(where the 200 amp alternator came from said that 4 gauge will suffice for the run)....

Did they factor in how far the cable has to run? Since most cars have the battery under the hood near the alternator, they may be thinking it only has to go a few feet, instead of the several feet required for the LS. Distance is a factor too.

Dbelectrical(where alternator was purchased from) stated that 4 gauge would suffice(even for that length of run) but based on AWG guidelines it needs to be heavier. I'm taking it to 1ot gauge to make sure. I agree....that's a pretty far run.
