Hey everyone, im 17 and i just got an all black 2001 Lincoln ls V8, and im wantting to make it look cleaner but without spending to much money since im not rich. But anyway i been looking around and i really light the all clear headlights with out the orange on the side. CAn someone please tell me where i can get this

JerseySmith: spend $20 on a claybar system. Wash, Claybar, Wax your car to make it POP.
Spend $150 on a decent set of HID (dont go higher than 6000K). Another $150 on a LSE grill. TINT is a must! Stereo, Wheels, Engine mods are all optional, depending on your budget.

Spend some time (a lot of time) using the search feature here. LOTS of great information here. KNOW the differences between gen1 and gen2. Note, this is not a "fast" car.

yes and i know that there is not many mods to make it a fast car. but can u tell me where i can go to find the real differences between gen1 and gen2 and what parts are interchangeable

Welcome!!:waving: Man ans I thought I was young to get mine at 18 1/2. We got 15,16,17 year olds joining. The last 3 new member that joind were in that age group. 2 new 17 year olds in the last 2 weeks.

The search function. Tons of info. Get yourself a some popcorn and a coke cause there are some very interesting , exciting, very informational threads, a lot with pointless info but you can always get something out of each thread. Also check out the picture thread. A lot of beautiful ls' in there. Another good place to look at comparison is the LSOTM, which is the LS Of The Month contest that goes on each month. Just go to the serach function and write lsotm and check out each months contest to see the people who entered their ls'. It will have the model the year, their mods and pictures of it.

The gen 1 has the models ranging from 2000-2002. Not sure if they went on sale late 1999 till early 2003 but thats where gen 1 go from. Gen 2 went from 2003-2006. The 2006 look different from the regular 2003-2005 ls, it has the lse front bumper but its not an lse, they jst stuck with the lse bumper that year. I;ll get to the lse down below. Some easy to see differences between gen 1 and gen 2 are the headlights. The gen 1 headlight have the low and hi beam reflector the same size and the gen 2's have the low beam(outer reflector) bigger than the high beam( inner reflector). Also the gen 1 headlights have the amber or orange colored lense inside the headlight parralel with the headlight frame. It also has the turn signal bulb covered by the amber lense. The gen 2 have an orange lense inside the headlight as well, but from a head on look, it cant be seen because its perpendicular to the headlight and next to the turn signal bulb not covering it, the turn signal bulb is also exposed on the gen 2. Another easy to spot difference would be the fogs. The gen 1 bumper has square fog holes thus square fog lamps. The gen 2 has the inside of the fog hole sqaure but the outer part is rounded off. The gen 1 fogs also have chrome all around the fog light surrond and looks whiter than the gen 2 fogs. Gen 2 fogs have a black fog surrong with only the round fog reflector being chrome. You can also look at the rims for most although some gen 1 have put on gen 2 rims. The gen 1 rims are 5 spokes and look sporty for the most part and go from wide to more narrow on the spokes. The gen 2 range from 6 to 8 or 9 spokes and have even rectangular spokes. In the rear bumper, not all gen 1 have the exhaust tip cut outs. Most gen 2 do have the exhaust tip cut out and you will also notice two little circles on some of the rear bumpers, this is the rear park assist some gen 2 came with. The gen 1 have red tail lightm gen 2 have 2 rones tilas except for the lse which are all red.

Something that took me a little while to discover was what the LSE was. It a special edition ls. The regular ls' have square fog lights with a longer square opening on the from bumper. The lse have a shorter but I believe taller openings with the corner of the opening rounding off. It makes it look likes its kinda smiling at you. The lse also came with more noticeable sideskirts and rear bumper. All lse came with all red tail lights. The gen 1 lse came with quad pipe exhaust tips and some had a spoiler. Gen 1 lse also had different rims, color wise only I think. There is a slight difference in the fog lights between gen 1 lse and gen 2 lse.

Well this turned out longer than expected. Just do some exploring and you'll start seeing the difference. Sorry for the essay guys :D

The grills are interchangeable, the wheels, few things here and there and some interior parts. You can put gen 2 headlights into a gen 1 bt will require you to change the connectors and I think it wont sit perfectly on the bumper, then you could just get a gen 2 bumper which I believe will fit with a bit of modification to the mouting.

Yea get the clear corners out of your oven.. joking .. you have to take the headlight apart and take the orange reflector out ,you bake the headlight in the oven then take it apart take out the reflector and seal it back up..

haha i just turned 19 and i feel old...:D

man thats old, how many canes do you have gramps?

I'm 19 too :D. So much for 30-40 years olds. They bought them at 40K and we took them off their hands for way way less.

welcome to lvc. all my mods were done over time if you are looking to get the same look as mine. the first thing you need is an lse grill (about 140 or so) its sound expensive but what i did was sell my stock one on ebay, and i actually got more for my stock than what i paid for the lse. next tint your windows then your tails. wheels are your own preference but you can decide over the winter what you would like to get as far as size color etc. intake can be done over the winter and to get one it will cost about 400 or so i believe, mine was 450 in Canada. you can easily pay for that by just putting like 50 bucks away every month.

But my LS is faster than your's :p

Other than the differences between the gens previously noted there are a few other diffs:

Gen1 has a throttle cable, Gen2 is "drive by wire"
Gen2 has VVT (I believe all years of Gen2 someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Gen2 has more horsepower
Gen1 has windshield washer spray nozzels on the hood, Gen2's are hidden in the cowl
Gen1 has parking brake handle, Gen2 has stupid button

Gen1 owners are typically well adjusted, reasonable, intelligent and witty (certain ones named Pete are exceptions (yeah both of you!)).
Gen2 owners like to try to post comments contradicting things posted by Gen1 owners even though they are incorrect. :D

Holy :q:q:q:q. It appears that I'm an old fart at 32. Where the hell did the time go?
