I need something to replace my foxbody as a daily driver so i can build up the fox. I want something comfortable and quick and ive narrowed it down to the LS or the Mark VIII.

Was wondering if there was any advantage to the mark viii besides the better after market.

I want something thatll be good and fun on the back roads, and on the freeways.

Just looking for basic opinions, the Mark VIII will obviously be the cheaper choice, but with either car i want black w/ black int.

Well it all depends on what you want to do and your personality ...

Are you a Suburb Dwelling Yuppie ... that needs to look like every other BMW driver in the neighborhood or do have some balls ...

One big + Mark VIII over LS ... as a daily driver ... MPGs ... besides it's a much better manly car.

Mark viii is sporty, fast-ish (not as fast as your fox, but faster than the LS), cheap, dependable if you keep up on the maintenance, and you can get a nice one for about half of what you will pay for a nice LS.

I didn't pay over 4000 for both marks put together. And they are fast as :q:q:q:q I walk on anything fom 65-110, and I can whoop allover my buddies supercharged 3.8l, and still get awesome gas mileage on the highway. And the best part is that no one has a clue that the g-ma car next to em is gonna eat their lunch. It's like the fellow mark owners are almost all friends in a way. If I see one drivin down the road they'll wave or I will and I always get a wave back [young or old]. 1ST GEN MARKS RULE FTMFW!

That's a loaded question to ask on an open Lincoln forum, With nine sub-forums, So you may get nine different answers. SO,:shifty: Being that I'm NOT bias I would have to say, The Mark VIII, 1997, LSC, Toreador Red.:shifty: :D

Im a current LS and Mark 8 owner. I own a 2002 LS v8 sport and a 97 Mark VIII and to tell you the truth the LS is much quicker....it feels quicker and smoother than the Mark VIII....plus its lighter. Now on mods? theres a better market on aftermarket parts for the Mark VIII im talking performance. The LS can be upgraded but its more expensive. Note if you're going to go with the LS get a 2003 and up V8 sport or LSE they came with 280 compared to the 2000-2002 that only had 260 hp. Also Im comparing the LS to a base Mark VIII.

Mark Viii or go home, j/k. But if you put some 4.10 rear end gears($100) in a mark you'll be happy you chose the Mark Viii over the LS.

I currently have a 2002 LS, and have had a 94 Mark VIII, both with exhaust and chip/tune, the Mark VIII 14.4, the LS 14.6, not much of a difference until you want to try to get 13's, 12's or 11's. The Mark VIII will be easier. Now in geneal driveability, handling, style I would take the LS anyday if I had to make a choice and money not being the factor.

I agree with Nick. I have a 97 Mark and a 06 LS so both Gen2s. The LS was def quicker stock(Mark would be quicker if fixed now though) But the LS is a nicer daily driver, handles/drives better and has heated/cooled seats. I still love my Mark and miss driving it but if I had to keep just one to drive everyday it would be the LS. If it were between a Gen1 LS and a Gen2 Mark VIII I would probably stick with the Mark though.

Another vote for the Mark 8, they are priced to sell these days.
I'd take a mark 8 over two LS's..and you'd need TWO LS's to equal the longevity you would get out of a decent mark 8.

400K and 5000 passes out of my Mark 8
1150 miles of WOT
show me 1 LS that has that much mileage OR that many passes!
much less show me an LS that has BOTH...
you wont find one.
Get a mark 8
