I got a Certified letter in the mail

So I got a certified letter and I freak out thinking its a speeding ticket, or toll ticket. I open it up and It says my car has been impounded by the city of chicago for drugs. lol.

For those of you that dont know I sold my Vic Sport about a month ago to a kid that goes to the University of Chicago.

I got the letter for 1 of 2 reasons, 1. he never put the car in his name or 2. the state hasnt got their paperwork in order and it still shows I am the current owner.

Ill call them on monday and let them know I sold the car.

I just thought that was funny.
 
You better be careful man... you could hold some liability on this...

I got burned once by a kid who didn't change over the title...
 
Actually I have a copy of the title, and bill of sale showing both time, place, and signature of both buyer and seller. Whats the worst that can happen? They just impounded it. I already have my money, so I could care less what happens to the car.
 
I still have that car saved with my pictures.......... It was so cool looking....... Couldn't believe you sold it.....

I had the same... it was more the PITA of having to go spend 6 hours in court... not fun...
 
I had the same problem with an explorer. Ended up paying a reduced fine. Hell, maybe you can bail it out and get a new title.:D I'll give you $2000 for it. :cool:

that's why you send in the part you keep to let the DMV know it was sold even it he doesn't transfer the title
 
I went to jail over this same stiuation.Long story short i sold the car and get a letter 2 years later saying its still in my name and impounded.I had no contact info to get intouch with the guy and didnt hang on to the paperwork.Towyard guy said to go get a duplicate title from the dmv,pay this bill and its mine.I did that and two months later i got a knock on my door with two officers saying im being arrested.....

This was march of last year and im still going to court.The guy is claiming he had 42,000.00 worth of stuff done to that car.Total bs.

Even when you do that if tickets come to your house in your name you have to go sit your ass in court and sort the mess out....
