Worst of times: On my way home today, a cop decided to pull me over for window tint. It was an overcast day so it looked darker than it actually is. I have 15% all the way around. He gave me a warning (on paper) and said I need to remove all the tint within 10 days and send in proof, or they'll send me a citation. Anyone familiar with the tint laws in PA. Yes, I know it's illegal. But if I don't have it removed and get the citation and pay the citation, can they do anything else? Obviously they can keep pulling me over, but they can't impound my car or anything correct?

Best: My floor mats came in the mail today. Got em off LSKoncepts. They were pretty pricey but look sweet and they're huge. They're much bigger than the stock ones. I got the fronts and rears with the embroidery...exactly the same as the picture on the site http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/ultimat-floor-mats-by-lloyd-mats-p-235.php

just get a lawyer for 200 bucks or less and they'll clear you of it. My excuse is that I work in a dim room all day nearly 7 days a week so light of other cars cause irritation but my eye doc doesn't prescribe anything for that nor can prescribe wibdow tint but dunno how that woulsd work for you :P

I read you can have tint with a note or some medical reason but can't have the windows up at night. My mom is actually allergic to the sun in a way. The sun's rays hurt her, even when its clowdy.

hmmm...well I think he said the ticket would be like 100 so whatever. I was just gonna pay it and hope it doesn't happen again. I've tinted all my cars (many darker than my LS) and I've never had a problem. In fact, I bought my first camaro from a cop who put 5% all the way around and told me that he hopes I don't get pulled over. I just wanna make sure that after I pay the fine, they can't pull some kinda stupid crap and impound my car or keep fining me etc. I asked the cop and he said once I pay the fine, it's pretty much over with, although I can get busted again. If i get pulled over a second time, is the fine doubled or anything?

Btw, the first thing the cop told me when he pulled me over is that he liked my car and he later said it looked awesome with tint, but it was illegal.

lol hypocritical cops. I have my windows down at night anyways cause I'm blastin my music! "Gotta Catch Em All, POKEMON!" :P

btw, here are a couple quick cam phone pics of the mats.

that's how I was gonna do mine but in the charcoal grey color of my interior

damn those mats are cool, i like how big the stitching is, my mats are pretty toast, i used to work at a heinz factory and my shoes would be disgusting by the end of the day and then the long walk through the huge parking lot would pick even more crap up..

One other quick question, a tint ticket won't affect insurance will it?

And yea, Whobe, exactly like that. Looks sweet.

I wouldn't think so.

However, as dirty as the insurance companies are getting it wouldn't surprise me. For instance the whole credit check for your insurance rate is a total sham. Just because someone can't/won't pay their bills doesn't mean they are a crappy driver.

No tint tickets will not be reported to your insurance. It is not a moving violation ticket. They do not keep records of certain tickets either, like tint, non working bulbs, no front plate. Only points tickets are kept track of, because of insurance reasons and the fact after so many you lose your liscense. Find another LS like your as far as color and year and take photos of that car. Do they want the car there for court or just pictures of the car sent in? What are they asking for exactly in the pics?

+1. find a car same color with no tint. Take a pic of the windows w/o tint. Send that pic in. They will only keep giving you tickets for the same amount as long as they want or as long as you have tint on there. Hopefully they will leave you alone, but cops can be ok sometimes and sometimes they're not.

What they gave me was a little card that is a warning. On the back of the card, a shop has to fill in their inspection number and contact info and basically sign off on the fact that they removed my window tint and the vehicle is now legal. After this is done, I mail that card to the police station. Like I said, if I do it within 10 days, the fine is waived. If I don't mail them the proof, they mail me the fine. I don't care about paying the fine, but where I was pulled over was near my work - I travel down the same road just about every day. The cop also knows where I work because he asked me what I do and I told him I'm a teacher (hoping he'd be lenient). So if he wants to be a total dik, he could just sit outside the school everyday and give me a ticket. On the other hand, I've driven past sooo many cop cars on that same road from the same police station (they sit there for speeders) and have never had a problem...

Basically sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.
