airbag

you might have to actually repalce them, Air bags supposedly need reset once a wire is cut. And the need a new harness for the computer to read it as fully repaired. I know my Galant had to have this done and I was tolde every car is like that now. The Galant was an 07.
 
because i connected the 2 wires to each other, and took out the yellow connector because the wire was cut too close to the yellow harness, so i wired them to each other, but i still have the blinking light, so im going to try to unplug the battery to see if that will reset it
 
well i tried that, that didnt work, i guess im going to have to try to repair this yellow connector, and hook it all back up and check it again, but i just didnt see the difference between the wire to wire, and the wire to pin to harness to wire, its basicly the same, thats why i thought it would work since i fixed the cut wire... any ideas?
 
Yea you are gonna have to get a new harness and take it to the dealer to reset. I don't know of anyway of getting around this, because it is a safety issue. They make it like that so if you were to get in acciedent Ford would not be liable because it was repaired improperly. All auto manufacutres do this to protect themselves. I would call the dealer and ask them what needs to be done exactly. My Galant had to have new sensors, harness and a new airbag computer. They had to rip the car apart and it took 2 days. It was their fault so I didn't pay out of pocket, but I think you are in for some serious spending.
 
Betcha dollars to doughnuts that the connector you removed has a shorting bar in it and the RCM is looking for it...or the thermal fuse in the RCM blew because one of the wires shorted to ground. Repair the broken wire properly (with the connector in place) and replace the RCM...you should be good then.

well ive had this light blinking for months now, i can continue to drive with it on, i just tried to fix it from what ive read on this forum... i do believe it may be a sensor like you had replaced, but when i looked today, i saw the famous wire cut at the harness and the 3-2 code, and others on this site, just reconnected it, and plugged it back in and it worked, and took the code away, it doesnt seem to want to do that for me, i wouldnt bring it to the dealership over this, but i do want to get rid of the light, thats for sure, thanks

Hopefully you can get away with just reconnecting it. They cut mine when I had a window replaced and it cost them more than that window was worth. But maybe it did blow a fuse or something like that if it touched metal. Good luck.

Are you sure of the 3-2 code, because the factory manuals list the 3-2 code for the driver's steering wheel air bag not for the seat air bag.
3-2 code(Driver air bag circuit resistance high)
3-6 code is for any problems with the driver's seat air bag

well that would make alot more sense, seems like all the work i didnt yesterday didnt change anything , but the wire was cut under the seat, so i was sure if i reconnected it the light would go away, but seems to be something else.. it does blink, 3 then 2 then repeats a few times then solid
 
im going to say its the clock spring, even though the rest of the buttons on the steering wheel work, the 3-2 code on fords are known for the clockspring replacement, i also understand that the airbags will not work if you have a airbag light on, so i guess untill i replace the clock spring, i will just have to worry about the airbag not working, but i dont believe i will be crashing my baby anytime soon. clock springs are only 90 bucks, so thats good

Unfortunately, the LFC's (lamp fault code) are prioritized. If two or more faults occur only the fault with highest priority will be displayed. So you won't know if your repair to the under seat harness was sucessful until you repair the driver's air bag circuit.

You should at least check out the wiring harness to the air bag & the clockspring with an ohm meter before replacing parts.
