My new beast is a daily driver, so it's never going to be in showcar condition - especially the underbody as I have to deal with Michigan winters.

So, are there any LS owners in the frigid north that can offer any tips or advice on keeping the underbody reasonably protected. I'll go ahead and say that I really don't want to go the Ziebart (or comparable) route with the spray coating if there are some things that can help without going that extreme.

There is a facility near my house that could e-coat your entire car. They do chassis for RVs and frames for modular construction. Guaranteed to keep the rust away. In case you aren't familiar with E-coating you should know that this is completely sarcastic as you would have to completely disassemble your car to do it. They can coat something up to 50' long and 4' wide and 8.5' deep.

Shooot, takin' dat der veeehickall ain't nothin' ......... I done it twice berfore I 'sided ta buy it

Just being funny to your sarcasm - except that after rereading my stupid attempt at being such, I realized that I didn't put the word "apart" in it.

Geez, I guess I'm actually like what I was trying to make fun of.

you can use outboard engine fogger for sandwiched metal areas. the oil will wick in and keep moisture and salt out while getting rid of any rust that might be there. crc engine store I think its called.
