new head unit

Those are decent numbers, but you need to compare them to the rms on the amp. The infinity's you are looking at for speakers probably wouldn't get to that rms unless you are blasting the stereo all the time. If you are looking for bass though I would consider going for a different sub. My sub has a max rms of 1000 watts with a 3000 watt peak. I wouldn't even dream of maxxing out my sub mainly because it would blow out my windows if they were closed.

yea i dont want something insanely loud i think the sub i have will be fine ,so does everyone agree with not using the rear door speakers and getting full range 6x9s for the rear deck?

I would say that you are good with that. I did the same thing in my Contour as well. The rear door speakers were in the worst place, so I just put a pair of Infinity 6 x 9 two ways in the rear deck and hooked them up to an amp. They were only used for mids and highs but they worked like champs. The rear deck is going to be your best bet. I am going to cut the holes in my rear deck this weekend and put in my 6 x 9's. The fun part is going to be putting my separates in the front doors.

Thats what I am gonna do, it will be a lot less aggrivation to leave them there and put my MB Quartz in the rear deck, plus they will sound about 10,000% better.

you wont need to cut any holes, they will already be there, you will just need to run the wire and bolt them in.

the hardest part if finding room for the crossovers, i flush mounted my tweeters on the dash in the removable pannel next to the windshield, and mounted the crossovers in the car instead of the door(drivers side is double sided taped to the FEM and for the other side i removed a little padding under the pass foot area and put it under the carpet), that way i only had to run 1 set of speaker wires into the doors for the woofer

6x9's wont fit where the stock speakers are, the stocks are 6x8's, the short side bolts wont be far enough apart, worst you will have to drill some new mounting holes, but the space should be big enough for the speaker itself

6x9 will fit where the factory sub are/would be, the door speakers are 6x8

My 6 x 8 factory crap speakers are being replaced with MB Qaurtz 6 1/2 separates in the front doors. I am puttin the tweeters in the corner of the window in the front door. Thats where they were located for the mach system that came in my Taurus and the location was good. I have a full Alpine multimedia system that I am putting in with everything including a flip-out dvd monitor, 16 GB HDD, stand alone dvd player (for a total of 2), plus a dolby digital/dts sound processor. The speakers I have are MB Quartz 6 1/2" separates for the front doors, 6 x 9 two way for the rear deck, and a add in Alpine center channel for the dash with its own amp. Amps are all Alpine V12 competition amps (not a big fan of their new pdx amps), and my sub is an Alpine 12" Type X.
I have my amp rack built, but I just need to lay a couple layers of dynamat in the trunk, and a layer in the doors before I put it all in.
