I put focal 165v3's in my last mark. While, yes, they were awesome I don't have the money anymore for focal. Also, I had a shop do it and this time I'll be doing it myself.

I need:

Recommendations on speakers. ( I like quality and clarity. ) Cheaper the better. I don't need competition grade stuff. Think middle of the line.

Instructions (or a link to a writeup) on how to by-pass the amp and wire the doors and rears.)

I have a POS touchscreen headunit that puts out 50w/ per channel but also has rca line outputs which is what I'd be using. Not going with a sub. ( for the time being)

are you useing the factory amp or the indash amp? either way i think you can just wire them up if you know wich factory wires r + or -. anywho, i'm a fan of the pioneer rev series. maybe look at the midgrade polks aswell. if your looking for good 5x7's at a good price just go on ebay and get them used. i've done it before and have yet to be disappointed.

My 93 came with a JBL sound system. I've replaced all jbl speakers with the exception of the two rear midrange speakers. I have Alpine type S 5x7(cost me about $90) in the rear and Pioneer 5x7(also cost me about $90) in the front. Ive replaced the midrange speakers in the front of the car with JL Audio xr-100 tweeters(these were about $85). The stock midrange speakers in the back remain in the car. The JBL stock headunit was replaced with a Kenwood head unit i bought for about $100. The stock amp and stock wiring also remain in the car. The car has a loud and very very clear sound to the music. I havent been in someones car with a sound system that sounds as clear as this..due to the JL Audio tweeters

However, The tweeters give more high pitch, sharpness, and clarity to the sounds the higher you turn the volume up with no cracking, but they do not provide the same type of loudness that the midrange speakers do. If i find two midrange speakers for the front, they would make the sound a lot louder but i cant find upgraded replacement speakers for them anywhere.

Tony, how did it go last night?

Did you get the cooling system topped off finally?

is the car running cooler?

I have a Sony USB/MP3 Headunit driving a Rockford Fosgate 400.4 amp and Rockford Fosgate 6x8 speakers. It sounds great even without a sub.

The hardest part was re-wiring the front speakers to work with the amp. I ran all new wire from the speakers to the amp - and mounted the amp to the cross brace behind the rear seat. I might move it to a different location when I have time.

The whole setup cost me $300 since I found the speakers on Best Buy's clearence, the amp on ebay and the headunit for $99 on special.

I'm still running the stock speakers powered by the stock amp at this point. Head unit I swapped out to a Alpine IVA405 with a Peripheral adapter so it all plugs into the stock wiring.

Mids and highs sound very good and they keep up with the JL13W7 with a JL1000.1 amp powering it.

I have a lot of MB Quart speakers and tweeters laying around along with Cliff Designs mids and tweers to. So when I am board enough I will see what I can fit in the doors

Yeah I got mine way back in the early 90's when a sales rep came in spouting how much better they where than MB's.

I got a 3 way set tweeter, 3.5 and 6.5 in my Challenger along with a 4 6.5 Orion subwoofer bandpass box in the trunk with the ports firing threw the 6x9 holes in the deck. Then a 25 watt HCCA Orion amp running .5ohm load on the subs. Man that blew people away that it had that much bass with tiny speakers and a tweeter amp in there eyes :p
