Low/High Beam On Mod - Headlamps Now Flash

OK, I've now down the "Low and High Headlamp On Mod". When I switch on my High Lamps, both sets of bulbs light up for a short period of time - then they start to flash on and off or completely cut off and don't come back on. It's like something is getting over loaded. It's just the headlamps flashing... the interior (dash) are not effected.

Anyone besides me have this issue?

I had a problem with my lights doing the same thing, but I didn't do the mod. Check the actual headlight switch, does it feel warm/hot? Mine was overheating and pretty much melted the pigtail connector. If it is, a switch can be had on ebay for around 10 bucks. Not too hard to replace either

are they hids and if so you have to ground the case of the ballast to the frame.

Wasn't there a recall on this switch? I have noticed at different time - this switch being hot. I don't think my father ever had it replaced. If there was a recall, would a dealership still do the warranty work?

If not, I will replace it myself. How do you get the face plate off?

Yes... but I have not ground the ballast. Oh crap... thanks.

If you are using auto-lamp I would not recommend it. I can not prove this, but when I manually turn the switch to on it runs cooler it seems.

even though the HID' use 35 watts (as opposed to halogens that use 55 watts), the startup juice required to fire the HID's up is a group-it'll create problems with the light switch, the auto-light switch, even the battery and alternator when you first start the car in the dark-I'd bet your auto lamp switch is probably fried.

A relayed wiring harness for your lights will probably solve your intermittent lighting issue, give you slightly brighter lighting, and it'll be easier to install than putting in another multifunction switch.

Getting the cover off is easy. Get the 2 screws above the speedometer, pull the switch off, theres a few more there. Carefully pry the faceplate off, more screws, voila.
