Would it be a good idea to run the 125 shot fuel jet on the 100 shot of nitrous just to be safe and make sure it's getting the proper fuel?
 
Can't afford it, plus that's why I got the wet kit so I don't have to worry about the PCM correcting for all the extra incoming air by adding fuel, im forcing the fuel in there...
 
just a note, nos is illegal on steet cars in many states. and another side note, bottles are for babies real men get blown:cool:

Thats funny I have been watching this 03 stang and his vortec with a dyno tune try to hit the 12's. He's even running a 4r70w He thinks WTF when I run 12's and a little bottled. He can keep that kind of head.
 
I ran my set up with fatter fuel jets just to be safe. However mine is dry. If your talking about the 100 vs 125 I wouldn't think it would be an issue.
Looks like you have a new time there in your sig. thats fast. Hope you hit the 13's and well in the 12's on the spray. I'm hoping for a new NA best also if the rain holds off this week-end. Just got the cobra intake installed this week. It feels faster but the track will tell.

does your kit hook into the schrader valve?
if so.. then you are going to experience a "lean spike" when the kit hits.

you really need WB02 if you wanna be on the safe side.

BUT your approach of adding the larger fuel pill DOES have some merit.

BUT..it WILL be lean on activation when the fuel side decreases your fuel rail volume and pressure.

"you've been warned".

dont come back and say "lots of people" do this and they dont have problems...because I can guarantee ALL of "those poeple" dont have WB02 and are just "hoping/praying" their shyt dont melt.
 
KK, yes I know a wideband would be ideal so would a full dynotune but to say I shouldn't spray without a wideband? How many people spray their cars, and how many actually have a wideband? I figure you only live once if the motor blows, i'll turn this tired 4.6 into a forged, stroked beast... I am taking as many safety precautions as I can realistically at this point:

SVT Focus 255lph fuel pump
running a 125 shot fuel jet on a 100 nitrous jet
one step colder plugs gapped at .035
nitrous wet kit sniper tune
spraying above 3000rpm

I think it should be fine on the 100 shot...
 
I wouldn't spray without a wide band and a proper tune, but that is me.

That being said if you don't have the money for a WBO2 then how do you have the money to replace your motor with a forged one if/when you blow it up??

My buddy Russ sprayed his Vic for 3 years with no problems, 125 dry shot and a proper tune, and pulled his motor apart and found little to no wear and no carbon at all. That being said I still wouldn't spray without one.
 
Well I wouldn't be able to rebuild the motor right away, it would take me a few months to save up but I have the stock 96 Mark VIII as well...

hell a 100 shot DRY is considered "safe" so I dont know what your worried about..and all this wet kit blah blah blah. people spray 125 DRY on a stock mark 8.

if your running a wet kit..

BEWARE of the lean spike I mentioned above.
Dry kit doesnt SUCK your fuel rail dry...like a wet kit does that's hooked to the schrader valve.

you conveniently ignored an important fact that was laid before you, guess the baby food spoon wasn't the right color?
 
if it were ME, and after I installed the WB02 I would use a very very dependable (read expensive) progressive controller.

but that's outside your budget, I understand..
 
I was under the impression that the lean spike happens with both wet and dry kits. I was told it's not a big deal as long as it's only for 400-500rpm.
 
98 run it and enjoy. If the motor is sound and you tune for the spray with only 125 you should be alright. I understand some here Probaly shouldn't even drive their cars for fear of wearing it out. OMG Drive it and enjoy

Besides base nitrous sniper tune, did you do any additional timing adjustments to global spark on your tune? Have you datalogged the timing on a nitrous run yet?
 
No I haven't data logged the spray. No other timing adjustments either. You only live once. Most of the runs on spray are on the roads to be honest rarely spray at the track. Did you get the blow down tube and a fire jacket for the track. This wen. night its test and tune so I may spray my last run. It looks funny being a bracket racer and running low14's -13's then make a mid 12 pass. I will try to datalog the run but its such a pain to leave the car running while in the lanes. I put a little extra in the setup for next time. could be fireworks!!!!!!!!
 
No I don't have the blow down tube or fire jacket. I got the bottle heater and purge kit and am about to order the MSD digital window switch from Summit. So I read on another post you got the Cobra intake on did you delete the IMRC's at the same time? Gonna run some NA runs first to see how it does with the Cobra intake? I read the Zex kits are not rated at the rear wheels so your 125 shot is like a 100 shot on my HSW kit...
 
I am planning on NA runs first to see what the intake and jlt have done. YEH 12.6 on a 100 shot aint bad. I've upped it alittle now.
 
These 32v heads love the spray (evil grin)... so you kept the IMRC's? The JLT intake is a nice piece... btw I forgot if I asked this already but you spray to 7000rpm right?
 
I used the same welded open plate IMRC's. I have the controller unpluged and the cables loose. The JLT is alright very basic low buck. I only run to 6800 both NA and Spray. Just to be a little safe no real reason. I am interested to see some times from a wet kit. alwise our cars run real close. I;ve heard the zex is on th eweak side before but I just chuckle when I hear that.
 
Yea our cars are pretty close NA. That 14.02 was my first time out with drag radials and a terrible headwind. I'm sure it easily has a 13.9 in it as it stands and that's with a 100% stock tranny. The motor is all stock too besides the conical filter haha... my goal is 12's on the 100 shot, it should do it pretty easily I think. My car is at my friend's house right now, the bottle is mounted in the trunk already and the main nitrous line is attached. It should be ready for next Wed!

Hey what plugs are you running in your 98 and at what gap?
 
12's are for sure with a 100 shot. I am looking for some drag tires now just got snowflakes and kicking around the idea of 4.56's with a locker. Then 4k+ edge converter, that should wake things up right.
 
I bet you'll ran like mid 12's on 100 shot, When I ran the 12.68 my car was running like 14.2's NA.
