Why the hell did I wait 11 years after production to buy one??
so far I love it, power even stock if good, deffinantly needs gears it is a dawg down low however after you punch it and wait for the trans to figure out you want to haul it takes off good.

I was reading about the J mod will that help will the trans lag?

some things I dont like
Chasis has more flex than I would like, especially going over RR crossing and hitting big bumps

is there a rear diff brace, subframe connectors or anything to stiffen up the chasis without breaking the bank

Body roll, not bad for a big heavy car however it could be better any sway bar or poly bushings you can buy to help with body rolls especially on the highway lane changes

well that is it for now let me drive some more and think about pros and cons.

for $200-300 what would you guys reccommend as first mods it is bone stock now it is a DD so Im not going crazy with it nor do I want a loud ass car like my last 3 mustangs

any free mods?

I have no idea :D

Yes but a full out shift kit from someone like Baumann is the way to go

I really don'e know what you are talking about... there is not alot of roll in my car at highway speeds but I also have 20's and low pro tires...

As for the diff brace and sway bars? Look at supercoupeperformance.com. Bill helped me out with a bunch of stuff...

Well the Jmod and mercon V is a relatively cheap upgrade. I would sensor lower it, that seemed to help my car but maybe it was all in my mind. Delete a muffler on the stock system. A regular tune up with plugs, better wires, fuel filter will do it some good... Past that I see there being some money involved... Good luck!

You got a 98, the only free mod is being able to manually shift baby!!! Have fun chirping 2nd in that car.

How do you manually shift a AOD car? this is the first perfomance automatic I had in years. I had a 96, 98, 99 cobra before hand.

A good solid TUNE would offer the best "bang for the buck".

If gotten from a good vendor the tune will totally change the nature of the car, the difference is night and day.

IF you increase your budget by a couple of hundred dollars you can get an Xcal 2 and the Pro Racer software and put ALL of this into the palm of your hand.
The software is 329 and you can get a used Xcal2 for 100ish dollars.

Besides changed the rear gears a good solid tune is going to be the best bang for the buck spent.

I spent "way more" than quoted above to tune my 95 {the additional cost was due to the hardware required, chip and chip burner)
it was 1097.00, and I had to add 100.00 to upgrade the software for my 98.. putting the total cost at 1200.00 dollars.

I would spend THAT money AGAIN in a heartbeat!
You can get out much cheaper than I did because you dont need all the hardware that I needed.

You know, after you spend a large amount of money, then some time goes by and you regret spending that amount?
In my case, three years later I still dont regret spending that money.

forget manuall shifting, there is very little if any performance gain by manually moving the shifter lever.

The PCM will outshift a human 95% of the time, and after the car is tuned.. it will outshift a human 100% of the time.

Tune x 1 million... first thing to do to any Mark VIII!

I'd do a Jmod though when you service the trans, it's on my list of to do's in the next few weeks.

You love it now......wait until it strands you somewere. :Beer

HAHAHAH! Yeah wait for that... I'm am crossing my fingers but so far she has been a beaut!

YEAH! Get em Brandon! LOL! Yeppers... got it back. Now its just time to put all my parts on! :D

First do all the maitence items and throw in a 160* tstat.

Free mods consist of removing the air silencer and sensor lowering.

Then put a tune on it. The trans lag always bothered me too... put a tune on it and you'll be amazed. Best money i've spent so far on it.

You can stiffen up the chassis if you need to.

Definitely go for gears after the maintence, jmod, mercon v, trans cooler and tune is on it. Thats my next step.

It might also be wise to buy a headlight conversion kit, convert your hid's, and sell BOTH of your old bulbs while they still are working. The kit will pay for itself, and you'll thank me later when one of your bulbs goes out. ;)

Lux's advice on the headlights is spot on!

I did the conversion and then sold my old bulbs, it almost paid for my whole kit!
