I've seen some guys have the "stripe" that goes around the interior painted the same color as their car... My question is, how did you all get the rubber-like coating off the plastic to do that? I really wanna do that as well.

I think, if I recall, take them off and soak oven cleaner on them. After a while the rubber peals right off. Then scuff up, prime and paint.

I found that warm water takes it off just as easily... pour a bath tub full of hot water and let it all soak for an hour... the rubber falls right off.

I was wondering myself how to do this without f*cking up the plastic. I am getting ready to do this also........perfect timing :D

since somebody mentioned oven cleaner, would Dot3 or Castrol Super Clean work? Thats what I use on model cars to strip paint, works good without affecting the plastic

i was thinking of doing it on mine too, just car is blue on blue, so it wouldn't make sense to paint it blue too...lol

dooooo it:D whatever makes you happy. I got a pearl white mark with a soon to be all black interior so I think a pearl stripe would look sweet!!!

I would like to see a pic of a Mark with the stripe painted.

Ask and you shall recieve:

Don't go buy stupid crap you don't need to... if you have a bath tub and warm water in your house it will strip the rubber off with no work....

as u mentioned it i just had the paint mixed into spray cans yesterday and was going to do it next week and was wondering the same thing about the rubber coating.

Wow I like 2nd gen interior sooo much better...

My cup holder and ash tray door look horrible along with the shifter bezel, so I'd love to do all that stuff.

Now, another question, how do the "stripes" come off the dash, doors, and rear panels without breaking :q:q:q:q?
