holy short runner cobra intake batman!

what is so good about a short runner intakes and what does it even mean? don't they give you more top end power but don't you loose low power?

How bad would that hurt low end torque? Marks are already hurting there, the 4.10's help, but damn! Would it be a noticable decrease?

sheesh, just run the engine without intake............lol

youd have to rev the crap out of the engine to get moving............

i am just wondering cuz i just bought a stock cobra intake like 3hr ago. and i have heard the term short runner but i don't know what that means now i am thinking what can i do to make the intake better port it?

Never seen individual throttle bodys, hmm that would be interesting.

That intake is useless to anyone who isnt boosting the hell out of a "b" head car.

To mark owners, dont bother, our cars are too heavy to support that short run. unless you had a 5k stall and never ran around town, i cant imagine running anything like that!

A properly done short runner will lose very little if anything down low and will give 20-30rwhp at peak and 50rwhp or more of the top end.

That one is not even close to something anyone should be running on the street. Big gears/stall, and lots of boost is needed for that intake.

so what your saying it'll make my 280HP car have 330 horse by just swapping an intake?

I dont think you really realize how much 50HP is, nor how hard it is to gain 50 HP.

keeping in mind a stock supercharged cobra motor is what 375HP?
compared to a stock mark 8 motor at 280 HP.

From your claims I can get within 40HP of having a supercharger with some majically hacked intake manifold.

sorry I just gotta raise the BS flag on 50HP.
Even 20-30 "peak" HP is a little too much to swallow.

(sorry)

:bsflag:

True, mine was done nicely and i gained 40whp from EVERYTHING i had. maf, intake, exhaust, tune , cobra manifold, etc.

i would say coming off a 96-98 cobra, getting the runners shortened professionally, you could gain about 20whp. Remember the mark viii's have a lot of drivetrain loss.

the tune probably accounted for atleast 50% of your gains exhaust was probably 20% leaving the rest to the intake...

10ish HP.

you also have to consider that your dyno numbers wont be the same from one day to the next or from one dyno to the other.
there could easily be a 10% error factor

compared to cars with similar mods {less the intake) your ET's are about .35-.40 quicker, which does lead me to believe you have about 40 more HP though.

not discrediting your numbers by any means

I agree, the intake cannot be put on and not be tuned, so maybe the 40hp would be more attainable with the tune also in the picture.

I know i got beat by a Trail Blazer SS. But it was running high 12's!!
Mark VIII LSC vs TB SS- Video

Those Trailblazer SS's are fast! They come with the LS2 400 horsepower stock, at my track they run high 13's stock so that guy definately had some good mods on his. BTW, I think you have the fastest NA gen 2...
