My car dash makes what sounds like rubbing creaking noises (ee ee ur ur) after I turn it off once it's warmed up.
If I turn the car back on the noise goes away.
In the past the car made similar noises and got down to being a gallon+ short of coolant at which point it overheated and went into safe mode.
I only drove it a few blocks in safe mode and had it towed to my mechanic.
I think it was low on coolant since I bought it.
He filled it up and changed out my DCCV as my heater was running only hot or AC cold. Not sure if it was really the DCCV or just the fact it was so down on coolant.
After that it's been running fine and the heater AC works like it should except for this rubbing like noise after shutoff.
I think the cooling system needs more bleeding.
Anyone have a similar issue.

Blend doors moving/closing when you shut the car off. That's my guess. Mine does that from time to time as well.

Just like mentioned does it sound like a creaking door shutting? Mine does it when it comes on.

Kinda sounds like plastic panels rubbing together and making creaking noises.
My mechanic is going to be putting my 02 posi pumpkin and axles in soon so I'll ask him to bleed it some more then.
See if that helps.
Anyone else have any idea what may be causing this?
I mean I don't sit much in the car after it's been turned off so it's only mildly annoying.

Yep, normal operation. I think the manual says this can go on for up to fifteen minutes after shutdown. Mine usually waits a minute or two before starting to do it, so usually you are out of the car and don't notice it.

+1

If mine doesn't go away in little while I'll see if I can hit it with some dry graphite powder lube to stop noise.

It's going up to 50 degrees here next week so I won't be using the heater much longer.
Never heard this with the AC

put it this way, it sounds like it should smell foul.

My 2005 LS does the same thing, it sounds like a rat is inside the dash scratching sometimes right after I shut it off. Other times it sounds like a computer going through a test mode. How do you bleed off the cooling system? I wonder if it could be a faulty coolant cap causing this?

I thought it was some sort of purcolation in the heater core. I'll still try bleeding the system again.
It's a goofy noise but if it's not uncommon then at least I know what's going on.
Yesterday it was over 50 here and the AC came on.
I don't recall hearing this with the AC last year
