Blacking out the Taillights..

NOoooooooooooooooooooooOOOooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:runaway:
hahahahahaha!:p LOL.
Dood, I have had my rears tinted for like 2-1/2 years already, and they still look good.....and they are not sprayed!!! I noticed when u spray them, esp.the DIY cans.....they come out reeeeally flat looking. and when u get them done professionally at a paint shop they cost way more, and they have a little more up keep to them. Against fading and stuff. My friend had it done to his trans am and his new Tahoe, and they look real good, a lot more glossy than the DIY ones.....but..... They are kinda permanent....and the light output it really cut back! Mine is removable, easily replacable, a awesome quality product, and the light output is FANTASTIC! check out the website.... www.lamin-x.com
This is nowhere near a window tint, is a thick (fruit roll up kinda thick:rolleyes: ) film! It is awesome. I swear by it. I am gonna re-tint my fog lights yellow again.....I put them on dry....BIG mistake! needs to be wet. My rear, I did it right. Front has a lot of air bubbles. Call them and order on the phone.... He gave me a waaaaaay better deal as well! Plus they have different shades.
Ok....that was just my 2 cents! hopefully u check into them. it even came with a little install kit. I did it my self. it was like 50 bux shipped from NY to cali. for rear tint, and yellow fog light tint. They have some goood stuff!
Here are a few pix:

the gloss is just a matter of the DIYer not clearing and buffing them properly
Yes yes...ur right....But I think I still get better light out put, and when Mine fades I pull it off, and put on another one! You Know what I am sayin!?!?;) and not even to mention cops.....If they dont like it, I can pull it off.....But like I said...I have never been pulled over for that....and they have no reason too. My friends that have theirs painted.....at least half of them have got fix it tickets already....so?!?!? To each his Own!

www.lamin-x.com didnt have the tail light covers when i looked all they had was the fogs and headlights
And yes yes....again........ I measured Mine and ordered them over the phone. and cut them myself!:D Not that hard to do brotha! Just make sure you order a few inches bigger...I came real close on one side to messin it ALL UP!!!! LoL.... But I didnt. And make sure they go on wett!!! My fog like I said have tiny tiny air bubbles! Need to redo them. They also have blue tints, clear (for protection), different shades of the tint (black)...and just added red. So yeah......

K...I am done!
lol

Kleen,

How would get around the the 3 indented sections? wouldnt that throw your film out of whack?

Im pretty interested in this. Might even go ahead and sand mine off and try it out.

The second gen lights dont have that funny surface. They are smooth.

Im sure you can still do it with film on yours.

--------------
IMO, film is the best. All the reasons that kleen expressed and it is actually more durable than paint as far as UV. If you want only a thin coat and you dont want that blacked out thick like coat YOU MUST make sure to get a very good clear coat on it and take care of it otherwise it WILL start to turn colors, do to the red lights most likely a plum like color.. Thew film on the other hand just sticks on and pulls of and it is rated with good UV protection.

My tails are....I believe....uhmmm......man its been a while!!! lol. Its the darkest one they have!!! hahaha....
and Yeah I have a gen 2.....which are the flatest either.....it does have a dip in the middle of it! didnt even notice it till I tinted them. LoL.
But yeah......juss put it on wet, and with either a heat gun or blow dryer, and u should be fine! If I can do it.....anyone can!!! LoL

and J.W....thanx for the back up!!!;)
and sully.....u wont regret it!

Ok....L8rz!
