Well I’m having a terrible day. Ok first question is should I repair my car or make it a donor car and buy a new mark viii. The car seems to drive just as before no problems of noises or driving.
Next about the ticket I got for careless driving for $149.00. Let me explain what happened because I shouldn't have gotten the ticket. I was behind a car when making a right and in Florida you can make rights on red. So about 5cars are in front of us and we are moving about 5-7 mph as they turn, I am almost about to turn I look to the left to see if there were any cars but the car in front of me decided to slam on the brakes at the last second and I didn't have time to stop and hit him. Now I don't get how its careless driving oh and btw he didn't put in a reason to why I was driving in a careless manner. Yes it was my fault but i don't think i was careless.
So guys give me an opinion on what I should do with the car and the ticket.

I hate to say it but the car looks like it's going to be more trouble than it's worth. I'd consider parting it. If the price is right Jamie might be interested in buying it and parting it. If you decided to part it, let me know, you have some parts I'd be interested in. Hell you could probably fetch a pretty penny for just the single HID housing.

How bad does it look under the hood? Is the radiator support bent? Get some pics of under the hood and we could give you a better idea but looking at the year of the car, I'd say you're better to part it and buy another mark!

Well it was careless, sorry. You hit them from behind. No way you will get out of that one. You always double check! Sorry :(

There does not appear to be and support frame damage - but there must be some with that much damage. How the heck fast were you going? Was it an SUV of sorts? The grille is rated 5mph and its not better built than anything else up front!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Its will not be too cheap to get much done. Jamie, who I think is or was in Palm Harbor, can help you get some parts. If he has the parts in your color then you will be set!

I've been working with Jamie on parts for my 96 and he doesn't carry much in Gen 1's anymore. He says they're just not worth the hassle to tear apart unless he can get them cheap. Good luck getting the parts you need from him, but he would be your better option especially if you can go pic them up and save shipping costs.

Yep. Jamie is a good guy and helped me out a couple of times, but I've been noticing a lack of GenI parts. Now I know why :)

93, do a little poking around on Craigslist, autotrader, etc. I can buy a GenI in good condition up my way for $1000-1500 with a working air ride. I understand that Florida is saturated with Mark VIIIs, so they must be a dime a dozen down there. Unless yours (which is very clean, BTW, nice looking car) has extensive mods or you have some ridiculously low mileage that you can't get another one of, I'd just be more tempted to part it out and replace it.

Yeah, one of our local dealers had a 96 on his lot with 68k on the dial for $1400. If anything happened to my red car, I would have snatched it in a heartbeat and just swapped my parts over :)

Well Thats what I told him, I dont think it would be worth it to fix it because it would need all those parts and plus would need to repaint it. We both know some what how to work on cars but parting stuff out would be hard if say someone wanted the seats or something. He was actually going to do a gear change in the next week or so, glad he didn't get that done.

So far the parts that were put in the car was (by us) new airbags, struts and an SCT chip. The previous owner put in a new stero setup, Navigation and an exhaust. There is nothing wrong mechanically, just the metal plate thats infront is pushed in. It also had 174K, so it did have high mileage.

There are no good marks right now around my area that are listed. If we decide to by another Gen I, then we will keep this car for the parts and swap the good stuff. If he decides to buy a Gen II then we will part it out but just that stuff we can actually take out.

Yes can can make a right on red.
AFTER you have come to a complete stop and checked for traffic.

The scenario you describe above is exactly what happened to ME.
Cept I was person that got hit.. and I was on my motorcycle.

The person behind me.
1. was looking left to merge with traffic
2. didn't come to a complete stop before turning right on red
3. failed to look RIGHT and see that I was stopped as I am supposed to before making a right turn on red.

YES.. you should have gotten a ticket.
Rough lesson, though.

Sorry to hear and see what happened to you.

Were you live I would look for a replacement, and sell the good parts

I don't know how insurance places look at careless driving tickets down there, but up here they are a lot more money and not good for them to see, and sometimes end in jacked-up rates. I'd fight the ticket anyways, maybe you can get it lessened to an unsafe turn or something...

i wrecked my mark at 35 and it looks a hell of a lot better than that (same area mind you) hard to believe that damage is from 5 to 10mph. that's some really gnarly damage...

yes The LSC lights are ok. Still would need to see what the replacement would be. If its a Gen II, then we can get some money out of some stuff in the car by parting out. If its a Gen I as a replacement, the LSC lights are going to go in there. Right now I can't find any good Mark VIIIs around my area, so my question is, can he drive his car this way?
BTW the other car was a ford explore...why it took most of the damage.

Not as it is.
Take the front off bumper ect.
Take the fender off.
Beat the daylights out of the core support and the fender.
Put back together.
Line up the head lights the best you can.
Tape up the hood nascar style add junk yard side marker.
Your good to go.
Try not to drive at night you will get pulled over because getting the head lights close isnt going to be good enough for the police.

You can drive it.... as long as all the fluids are holding... is that your little bros car that used to owned by GMAN?

actually I don't think it would be that bad...parts are cheap and you already know that you have a good car so if you have a little bit of mech knowledge it wouldn't be a hard fix or expensive except for the headlight but being a prof body man might make it seem easier to me. I would fix it though.

fix it if you like the car most money will be for the new paint
and in MN you would have got a inattentive driving ticket not a careless
and according to my Ins. the inattentive is much worse to have

I have the chrome that goes above the grille if you need it, give me a price if you want it.

TX would have been "negligent collision" and "following too close" and "failure to avoid collision".

strike 1, 2 and 3 in one negligent moment.

If you own nothing on the car I'd just keep it for parts... find another one.

If it needs fixing you have almost everything you need right there.

As for the ticket .... unless you have boobs and a but it's your fault LOL...

Don't think you'll be able to get out of it. Lucky it's only $149 not more. Don't know if there's a ticket that cheap anymore in our area. (Maybe one of those old folk fines for FL.. LOL)

Not trying to rub salt in the wound but unless you were at a complete stop then went I doubt you'll get out of it. But I'd still go to court and plead not guilty and see what the DA drops the fine to..

Yea i will most likely part it out and get a new mark viii...i still can't believe i crashed my car god life sucks. How much do you guys think i will get out of it if i keep only the Avic and is the exhaust trash now?
