I have found a 98 mark with 150,000 miles for $1350.00. i was told this is whats wrong with it.

1. Transmission has small leak
2. Loose lower tie rod and rotors
3. Rear axle seal leak

I get the first one but the other two i dont get, i asked him but he says he knows nothing about cars and thats what the dealer told him was wrong with it. it has wore tie rods (common over 100,000mi) needs rotors, has a tranny leak? (gasket i am guessing) rear axle seal is the one that really stumps me, i dont know anything about rear diff's, so the question is should i steer away from this car for this price because of those things? he said the dealer said the diff leak was unnoticible under normal driving, but who knows?

another question is i have a 95 lsc could the rear diff be swapped out easily into the 98 easily, thanks for you time.

Tranny leak is not a huge issue so long the fluid is at and kept at the right level for now. I am guess its a gasket or the fill tube o-ring.

Tie rods are no big deal. Just dont turn the wheel without the car being in motion. This is the one thing every idiot does, turns the wheels without moving the car. Its puts a TON of stress on the front end. Just love people cranking things over when they are trying to park. LOL

Rear axle is probably just a gasket.

Over all if thats all thats wrong then I would thing this a decent deal assuming the interior is in great shape and the body needs little to no work.

thanks unity and mespock, i really needed the extra opinions when it came to those things, thanks. I don't know where i would be without you guys. (driving a v4)

it also has a remote start, the back seat has a hole in it, there are some scratches on the outside the engine compartment is a little dirty and the front bags leak overnight (alright because i have all 4 new ones from my old mark)

i am going to look at it tomorrow. wish me luck!!

ABS sensors are different I believe but other then that it should be a straitforward swap. Probably not worth the effort though.

500th post woohoo

i meant if there was a problem like the diff leaked so much that it was dry or something like that, or it was low so it fails or something.
