Thinking of the New Genisis Coupe

It kinda looks nice (you see a lot of other cars in the design), but I don't think I'd buy a first gen vehicle from a company that has never designed a performance car before. Still waiting to read the road tests on it (have any been posted?)

I remember reading some reviews of the Genesis sedan that were not favorable to its handling.

The 27k version will not feature a turbo.

I like them, I'd heavily consider buying when they come out if I have money.

Hmmm. Hyundai does have a long history of performance engineering but on the rally scene, in Europe. Which saw their tiberon compete handily with the WRX and Lancers. It usually takes some time to catch on over here in N.A. but the subies and mitsu's are a hit, for example.

I appreciate what your sayn tho.

27K in Canada will I was told by a dealer yesterday...maybe he made a mistake but I know the 31K trim level will. Still a good price.

All I see is a Tiburon. Whats with manufacturers not having the balls to keep the cars names, like the SRT4/Neon and the Cobalt/Cavalier? You know that is what they based those cars on and in their eyes that is truly all those cars are, just updated to keep up with the times.

The manufactures usually use thw WRC or the IRL or F1 as engineering test grounds for their street cars. Hyundai is still relatively new on the scene.

How well did the escort/focus do? I'm NOT talking about the Cosworth either.

In their times-and I am by far a fan of either-both cars tore the WRC up!

Hyundai had cars in rally's outside of the WRC and they did ok but they were up against cars and drivers that were no where near up to par with the WRC. Same thing goes for the Focus and Escort.

i'd just never buy a damn Korean car.....

Thank God you responded to this thread! I had $27k lined up to buy, but I deeply value your opinion and will have to reconsider. Thank you for your well versed, knowledgable experience! You sir, serve a vital role in this world.

God bless America :P

I've never considered taking a second look at a Korean car...as I see it Ricer's aren't for me.....not roomy enough for me being 6'1", material just feels like it was made in a 3rd world country, I am just more of a Euro-American lover.....same goes for women....

Your dumb, you said you like European women. I asked if you like hairy pits!

Im sure its the Europeans with jungle pussies dude.

What gender are you dating? haha

Ok, he who is a masseuse for the Seattle Seahawks;)

There's a difference between someone work and to whom ppl socialize with. You saying your work is surrounded by women and you only deal with female clientel?

Btw....never met a Euro with hairty pitts, never met one with hairy pussy...but every asian I've come across has had a hairy bush unless they were from cali, florida, or hawaii or the girl does modeling in some form or another......some asians are too photo obsessed

+1

For some Americans, if you put an American flag and a stamp Made in America on an envelope filled with Anthrax they'll still buy it. Free market common sense (what America was built on) thank God has swept North America and those who think like this are the minority. Americans should be happy for that. If it's a better car, buy it, nothing like some good ole competition. A true American patriot embraces competition and goes with the best regardless. Heck, most if not all your early engineering technology was imported from Europe heard of the Manhattan project and nuclear bombs?

What other 6 speed Man. RWD car is American made in this class or any other? Very few.

The other car I was looking at was the Saab 9-3 AWD. There is just no competition from America.

I agree with most of this but no matter how big Hyundai gets with cars like this they will always be looked at as cheap ass cars.

and if you lose your job Hyundai will buy it back, the car not your job LOL (I got to read the fine print on this one)
If you like it ,buy it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disagree. With their improvements and future plans, it seems to me like they are the next Honda or Toyota. They were perceived in much the same way as Hyundai is now, but their quality and reliability stood out over time and changed peoples perceptions. Not that I like Hyundai at all.

To each his own but Honda and Toyota were never comparable to Hyundai.

You have to admit Hyundai has come a long way. I want to test drive one just becuase I'm curious.

I drove the Genesis sedan, with the 4.6L v8. It had some pick up for a big/heavy car. It has a smooth transmission, backup camera, power everything, hard drive navigation, sunroof, heated seats, and two-tone leather. But I would still not buy one.... They wanted $42k for it! For a Hyundai.
The coupe does have some potential. But really, it is just a RWD Tiburon.
