alright I am a new one to this site as of 11 hours or so ago and I have a question.... I recently just purchased a 88 LSC its white with the "I really hate this color" burgundy leather interior, so I picked up the car for 750.00 it has around 158k the motor sounded great, could barely hear it running besides the damn fan on these things, it has already been converted to the coil spring suspension, has flowmaster 50series on it and the guy has a folder of all receipts along with his chart of when the oil was changed, seems he took really good care of it, it has been sitting since september and the car fired right up no hassle, I put the car in gear to check it and it took maybe 5 seconds to go into gear, but kinda figured that since it has been sitting for almost 5 months and it was about a quart and a half low on tranny fluid, no biggie filled it up drove perfect, it has a minor leak in the radiator but cannot locate it yet, but nothing JB weld or a good can of course ground pepper cant fix, other than that it has some surface rust nothing major and the interior is really dirty but everything works, windows, seats, radio, etc.... still have to master the ground on the gas gauge thing though, anyways how do you guys think I did?? sound like it was worth the 750.00 bucks delivered to my house on a enclosed trailer 70 miles away courtesy of the seller?? any ideas on what to do with this thing, im a updated 23yr old modular ford guy and am rebuilding the damn motor in the 03 marauder right now never really tinkered with the 5litre although my buddies 88GT was slower than hell, id rather get out and walk.. let me know... any ideas will be appreciated im trying to post pictures we will see how it works :)

I think you did alright....

The amount of hi-po parts out there for the 5.0 is staggering....

What happened to the Marauder? While you are doing the engine make sure you do the rear cylinder head cooling mod.
 
already done.... THE GOD DAMN oil pump went out for the second :q:q:q:qING time haha I like when you say bad words on here its hilarious the little dudes that pop up
 
needless to say it spun a bearing and thats it :) thank god!!! im hopin that i can just get away with new rod bearings and maybe get the crank spun or just go with a forged steel crank who knows... i dont think the newly aspired LSC will come close to boonquita though... haha shes my sexxy black bitch that scares the holy hell out of me whenever I touch her with my right foot ; -)
 
hmmmmmm sounds like a new purchase to me.... these damn motors are expensive... so what should I do with the LSC... I want the what the hell was that mustang sounding exhaust and maybe just a little extra boost of power, ill get all the maintenance stuff done and bring her back to life first..
 
sounds good to me.... hey, where can i find that TV bushing at? auto parts stores or is that strictly a dealer item??? and what other suggestions would you guys have on the LSC? any input is appreciated...

Nothing else jumps out of the brain as a "get it fixed now" moment. With that being said, a few items to consider: New Battery - keep it charged up as the car seems to "like it." There are 13 grounds on the car, that tid bit may help with troublesome electrical issues. Upgrading the Alternator can be as expensive and fancy as you like. Replace the desicant bottle in the air ride sys. or R&R it as may not be performing well or at all, given the environment.

My VII has been a good driver considering the condition it was in when I bought it. These cars make great toys and/or a back up car.

I can't stand how they shift... I drove my friends a few times and hate the trans... needs a shift kit or something asap imo....
 
well no need to replace anything on the air ride BECAUSE IT DONT HAVE IT!!! haha thank god... but yeah supposedly this guy was a fanatic about maintaing his cars.. which can be a good thing I guess, so as far as the TV bushing and getting that tranny back in shape I do not know when the tranny fluid was changed last but there were no burn marks on the dipstick and the fluid didnt smell burnt nor was it dicolored just a nice bright redish pink, like I like... should I throw in a bottle of lucas or just refill the tranny with lucas fluid all in all? so many options to do, but all my cars run off of royal purple motor oil.. a bit pricey but definately good :q:q:q:q
 
The lincoln version of the AOD is sluggish and soft. I had mine rebuilt, due to a bearing failure. When I did, I had a Mark VIII gear set installed and a shift kit.

The car is way fun in 1st and 2nd gear as they are lower than the originals. 3rd however is somewhat a dog. OD shifts real hard and is annoying when traveling in a 45mph zone as the car upshifts/downshifts in keeping with traffic. To get around this annoyance, I keep the car in "D" and leave it there for the majority of my city driving.
 
i just hope this car lasts me until the motor is redone in the marauder... other than that I dont care haha then I can worry about upgrades and stuff, all I want it to do for me for now is last long enough and get me back and forth to where i wanna go, no matter where it is

sounds like a good deal to me. try the sites listed and also www.fordvschevy.com for some good info there too. i take it thge marauder has made it down to sshs events from the background in that pic.
