My 95 Mark VIII has the following issue.

Upon cold start up, the starter will spin over just fine, but the engine won't fire. After about 3 minutes it will start up just fine. The car only does this about 1 out of every 20-30 cold starts. Any suggestions?

So when you go to start the car the engine turns over but it doesn't start... and then you try again three minutes later and it fires and runs?

I'm thinking fuel pressure regulator...

Kinda like that. I can try to start it all I want, it will just spin over. It takes about 3 minutes of trying to start it & then it will just fire up. But like I said, it's only about 1 out of 20-30 cold starts. I am really baffled by this. I thought that a wire or connection may be lose but I have no idea of where to look at.

I would say the crank sensor would be a good spot to check... for how cheap it is, and easy to replace with simple tools it's not a bad idea.

+1 for CPS

need to see if when it "doesnt start" if you have spark.
If not.. BAM.. CPS.
If you HAVE spark then it's the CAM sensor...

if the cam sensor is bad you have a 1 in 4 chance of the car starting each time...it's hard to explain, but.. due to the simplicity of the cam sensor..and how cheap they are.
You MIGHT change the cam sensor first, it's easy as pie.. compared to the crank sensor.

Tiffany changed her Cam Sensor in Oreilley's parking lot with 3 counter guys "watching her work" in amazement.

She pulled the coil pack, then the Power Steering resevoir then the one bolt holding the cam sensor. She had it done before I could drive 2 miles to help her.
haha

If "tiffany" can do it..(lol)

Thanks guys. I replaced the cam seensor last year. I will take a look at the crank sensor.

Thanks, Rich

might check the cam sensor harness for "funky wires"..it's so close to the head the heat screws up those wires sometimes.

You know what I meant, in the morning like the engine has not been ran:p

We have had a very warm winter so far, just started to wear a light jacket about a week ago. The daytime highs are in the high 50's right now. 2 weeks ago we were still in the 70's. The summers here suck as you know! I'm sure the heat will be back before you know it.:(

Oh I know just had to post it.. LOL... Temp was -3 this morning... Still a few days until winter arrives. 8" of snow yesterday... Made all my neighbors happy by running my snow blower through their driveways and sidewalks..

No great feeling after a snow fall and working hard all day then coming home to a cleared out driveway.

You would be that guy Rich.... in my old neighborhood we had a guy who would randomly run his snow blower down everyone's driveway... I didn't mind because I would have had to shovel if he hadn't!
