hey anybody know about a factory recall for the 97 mark having to do with fires igniting even with the key out of the ignition? just got a letter in the mail referring to this issue. it mentioned the speed control switch. anybody?

This has been going on for around 4 years or so... go to the nearest Ford dealership and get the recall done, 30 minute job or so.

my grandpa got his done on his '04 conversion van right away, i had to wait like a month for Ford to make the wiring harness thingy, then it took them like an hour to put on

Does anyone have any problems with the face of the climate control getting hot? My 01 Crown Vic does, but I haven't found a recall on it

My climate control in the Vic gets pretty hot too... never put any thought into it though...

Dont even get me friggin started again about the recall on the brake switch...

Make sure they replace it!

The orginal fix was just to unplug it - causing your speed control to stop working.


Couple of reports here that members took their vehicles in and when they got home discovered that nothing had been done.

I got so ticked off I cant recall ( no pun...) if it was my Van or MARK that they failed to connect the new switch right (cross threaded it) and tried to blame the master cylnder wanted $500+ to fix it. Hmmm wet switch - low fluid - hmmm what do you mean not related... Oh well maybe, sure enough, how about that...
