Obama supporter robs women, beats her, then carves a 'b' into her face.

Woman Attacked, Letter Scratched Into Her Face
4:03 pm EDT October 23, 2008

PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, apparently because of her political views, Pittsburgh police said.

According to WTAE's news exchange partners at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Ashley Todd, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her and put a knife to her throat.

Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said the robber took $60 from Todd, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.

The Tribune-Review reported that Todd, who isn't familiar with the area, drove to a friend's house and together the pair located the Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl where the attack happened and called police.

Todd declined to comment to the Tribune-Review. Friends said she is in Pittsburgh volunteering for the McCain-Palin campaign.

Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.

The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

The Obama-Biden campaign released a statement, commenting on the attack. The statement said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice."

The McCain-Palin campaign also released a statement saying, "The McCain campaign is aware of the incident involving one of its volunteers. Out of respect, the campaign won't be commenting. The campaign also confirms that Senator McCain and Governor Palin have both spoken to the woman."

This is dispicable, if true.

I have heard some speculation that it may be a fake by of all people, Michelle Malkin. While I wouldn't put it past some of the crazier, fringe Obama supporters to do this, I am personally taking a "wait and see" attitude on this...

Either way, I feel sorry for the woman.

It does look pretty suspicious.
Most muggers would have left more than a welt had they used a knife.

However, it is worth noting, while the circumstances of this assault do seem suspect,
it is interesting how most people don't seemed shocked to hear that this has happened.

That is a terrible thing, and I certainly hope that the man will be caught and prosecuted. I would imagine the ATM cameras will be able to be accessed, and it should be a pretty easy case to prove and also identify the man who did this using the video evidence.

"Police are hoping that footage from bank surveillance camera may help lead them to the suspect." So if it did happen, the story will fade away.
If it didn't happen, the hoax will lead the news.

Actually, I think it has become part of this election. I believe the people have been led down 'dead end paths' on both sides, and they are now taking a stance similar to Shag's - 'just sit back and let's see what really happened'.

Weird.

Why get beat up by somebody and then fabricate it into this?

Police: Campaign Worker Admits Making Up Story

A Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Ashley Todd confessed to making up the story & is facing charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.

Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.

The commander added that Todd will face charges; but police have not commented on what those charges will be.

According to police, investigators working on the interview process detected several inconsistencies in Todd's story that differed from statements made in the original police report.

Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Diane Richard released a statement earlier today, saying: "Because of the inconsistencies in her statements, Ms. Todd was asked to submit to a polygraph examination which she agreed to do."

No photos of Todd are being released by Pittsburgh Police at this time.

The investigation is continuing as officials determine what charges will be filed.

What a dumb bitch. How do you not know there are cameras at ATMs?

Speaking of, I'm gonna guess she doesn't go "ATM"

How the hell do you get beat up by some random person and lie about it?

I hope the truth comes out simply cause I really wanna know what the hell this chicks motives are with this one.

I have a feeling she was beaten by a lunatic husband and was either to scared to tell the truth or was forced to tell a lie!

If you ask me the majority of both sides are nuts with this election.

This was clearly a HATE CRIME

Sources: McCain volunteer fabricated attack
Pittsburgh police earlier said she took polygraph due to inconsistencies

PITTSBURGH - A John McCain volunteer in Pittsburgh who said she was robbed and sexually assaulted because of her political views has admitted to fabricating the story, police sources told a TV station.

KDKA TV added that one source said Ashley Todd would face charges.

Police have not formally announced the fabrication, acknowledging only that detectives in the case were meeting with the force's public information officers.

Todd, of College Station, Texas, earlier agreed to take a polygraph test due to inconsistencies.

Among other things, police said photos and bank card information from an automated teller machine where the college student claimed she was robbed do not show her using the machine at the time, police said.

Police said the Todd, who is white, told them she was attacked by a 6-foot-4 black man Wednesday night.

Other differences in her accounts are whether she lost consciousness, whether she remembers handing over money and how the man assaulted her, police said.

HHahahahaaa, and here I thought the Dem/Libs were the radicals.

See. You just don't understand it.

Because we've found an isolated kook, that doesn't mean that the TRENDS of the left are dismissed or equivalent.

I don't think you understand it.

There are "kooks" on both sides and labeling the many because of the actions of the few, is faulty.

The thing is, on the left, it isn't the actions of a "few". It is much more wide spread.
