I was on vacation a week ago down by Naples and i saw my first MKS on the road, the driver (go figure) was about 85 yrs old. A few observations, the front end just screams Acura to me, something about the headlights and foglights. Its a much bigger car side by side with the LS, the driver seemed to be about a foot higher than i was. One horrible, horrible, horrible thing about the MKS is the rear end seems to sit really high which makes the exhaust plainly visable. I dont mind that on a sports car, but on a luxury car i dont want to see the mufflers and all the tubing under the car. The side view was alright and the interior looked nice. Anyone else been on the road next to a MKS?

I've been next to a couple around here. I've said it since the first photos of it showed up on the net - it looks like a Lexus and like it has air shocks in the back to me. No thanks.
seen them as I pass the lincoln dealer around here, I am kinda starting to grow on the style but would definitely have to check one out in person and drive it before any decisions would be about it. Not that I well be getting anything like that for awhile, I enjoy what I have now.

A neighbor of mine traded in an 03-05 V8 LS for one of those. I think they brought it home for a "sleep over" and had both parked next to each other. That was the last time I saw their LS. The MKS does sit higher, so much so that I could see part of their house under the MKS, the LS was just darkness under it. But, to answer Fla02LS' question, no I have not been next to one, nor have I seen one driving. Just that one, parked.

The day I picked up my LS outside of Detroit I saw two of them at a gas station. This was before the "official release". I was generally impressed with the look. I think the problem is that Lincoln decided to remove some of the sportiness we all love about the LS and lean more toward luxury. They are unfortunately catering to an older crowd than the CTS or newer Lexi. IMO Ford has never been that great at hitting solid markets with their offerings. Many of their cars are just slightly wide of the mark. I've always thought that they need to get the guys running the truck program and put them in charge of the entire company.

Yes it will be, is it going to be a 3.5TT or 3.7?
The 3.5 Ecoboost (GDI/TT) is what's coming early next year. I've heard that a GDI D37 is in the works, but I haven't heard anything about a release date.
I passed a Tuxedo Black MKS on a city street the other day, and it was noticeably larger than my LS. Being next to it, I couldn't really see underneath it, so I can't comment on that, but it's not a bad looking car in person.

Was speaking with a few guys I know from when I was working in Nascar land. According to a few Ford Racing buddies the twin turbo V6 for the MKS has been put on hold until 2010, possibly forever. With the current economy and turf wars within Ford marketing it looks like a performance leaning Lincoln may be a dead issue. For what it's worth I've had Ford engineers tell me many times that they felt that the LS/S-Type platform had more potential and was better engineered than just about anything else they make. It was just never marketed well, both to the public and internally to Ford management.

Indeed. The MKS isn't the right car for Lincoln, but it was a good start. They need the performance back fast or yet another generation will skip them.
Dunno; we were in traffic, so I didn't get to pay a lot of attention to it.

I work in a warehouse near Detroit Metro Airport. In I believe August, we had a Mustang that was being shipped to Germany. It was a 3.7L V6, 6 speed manual. Had the 2010 dash. Had current body. Had a very large dual exhaust system. I looked as hard as I could, and it did not have a turbo. I suspect one was going to be installed. All I'm saying.

I drove one before, it's ok, interior is pretty nice. The car looks out of proportion from some angles and it's freakin huge.
