alright so i have a 2000 with the changer in the glove box, i installed the adapter but when i hit the media button there is no 'dj' mode which should feature the output from the adapter. instead i have to use the remote that came with the adapter to change to ipod output. i'd be ok with that only the display continues to play cd's which is kinda goofy. i'd rather it did nothing than that.

any ideas?

questions
1. how much for a decent ipod
2. can it be hooked up to the factory hu
3. how much is the install and is it easy

answers = P

1. i got it for xmas from my gf. but you can find used ones for like 200usd
2. using the proper adapter from www.pie.net
3. required adapter ran about 70usd and the install when you have a changer in the glove box is very very easy. the indash would be easy aswell but more annoying as you have to remove the radio.

I have an iPod and I use the Griffin iTrip that plays through the radio.........it works great! It comes preset to play on 87.9 but it comes with a CD that allows you to change that (and shows the stations in your area that you shouldn't set your iPod radio transmitter to). Haven't had a problem with mine.

Currently i'm using an archos with a direct auxiliary out of the head unit right into the headphone jack. 40GB of mp3 in the center console, i'd go to 100, or 250GB, but they become increasingly more sensitive with more data they hold, i've found the 40 works wonderfully both in car and other.

I also have a 2000 w/ the glove box cd changer. I got the PIE adapter about 5 months ago and just havn't had the time to install it for my SIRIUS radio. I'm curious where the adapter plugs into. My first thought was that it plugs into the back of the cd changer, but it seems that there is no way to get to the backside of the cd changer. Any help with this would be appreciated because I want to get the PIE in this weekend. Thanks.

it's really easy to install, you have to take about the glove ox which is simple. on the side there is a data cable which you plug into the PIE adapter.

i have another question.. how did you guys/girls mount your mp3 players?

i'm thinking of getting a leather console from kuda but 90usd for a mount seems a little nuts but might be the only option. i'm looking for something that looks good.

please post ideas, name of products or pictures.

Hmmm, does anyone else have their changer in the trunk? I have a 2001 and I bought it used.
I would LOVE to get an iPod hooked up and not have to worry about that digital channel thing or a cassette adapter. Seems like my friends that bought the adapted that makes it play thru a 'static' radio station have had alot of problems.

My changer is in the trunk. I installed an aftermarket Alpine changer and the trunk was the easiest place. My radio only had a tape deck so I bought an adapter from Crutchfield that hooked right up to the factory radio. It has two rca inputs for an Ipod or satilite radio. I would like to put my changer in the golve box to make way for some subs, does anyone have an extra golve box?
