my engine just died at 94K miles kind of sad cuz i just got the car 5 days ago! but the dealer is replacing it for free so all i need to know is where i can see the engine code when they replace it because I do not want them to put a wrong ingine in it... its a 2000 v6 with manual tranny

The only engine they could possibly put in there aside from the V6 is a V8, and even then it wouldn't bolt up to the manual trans or talk to the ECM, etc..

What happened to the original one?

Well when I bought the car it had a CEL for a bad coil on #6 cylinder so they said they would replace. I drove it like that for couple days (the car felt strong most of the time but had some hesitation sometimes) after I took it in, it took them 2 days to replace a coil  anyways I drove it off the lot and felt like the engine was very weak so by the time i got home i started to hear the valves, checked the oil it was fine and decided to take it back to the shop... by the time i got there the whole engine was making so much noise it was crazy and it shut off on me right as I entered the dealership... so basically i think they screw'd it up? the guy did say that they were having "programing" issues? i dont see what it would have to do with replacing a coil but w.e they got me an engine with 82K miles :D

i would dump that car now since you just got it a few days ago. tell them to take the LS and shove it where the sun don't shine. how much did you pay for it btw? the V6's use up almost identical amount of gas, why not go for the V8?

yea h take rick's advice i regret not having a V8 everyday i crank it up. I thought i was saving money, but the V8 are pretty economical plus u can do a lot more to them.

i assume he wanted the manual

that is correct, as far as speed goes the v8 is not alot faster from the v6 with manual transmission (only about 1 second up to 80 which is not bad at all) Also I do not want to dump the car yet since I got it for such a good price (i think so) the whole car ended up being 5K and it is in a pretty good condition overall. plus now i will be getting a new engine that is good hopefully :D

Manual LS is pretty cool, I think it's cooler than the V8 one. keep it. Post some pictures.
