i have a 05 LS8 and it came stock with 235/50/17 mich piolt HX MXM-4 and i always buy those tires but i seen a deal on some mich pilot sport-2 that are the same size and i know i can put those on my wheels but what is the better tire to use the sport or HX's????

Great question. I am in the same boat. I need new tires. What should I get? I've got the stock 17" rims. I've searched the forum for tires and have come away more confused than when I started. I want an all-season tire with good performance that looks good. Oh yeah, it needs to be cheap too. And what size should I go for?

I just got Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for $762.81 for four including $80 instant rebate, good thru October at Sam's Club, great spec's for all season.

You can use any brand of tire your little heart desires...At least in the case of tires, Size is what is important.

Discount Tire has tires ranging from $119 each to $260 each. Are some better than others? Oh yeah...but what are you going to be doing with the car will affect the purchase. If you need just an everyday driver tire with casual driving, the $119 Falken will be just fine. If you need more performance for an all season tire, the $185 Yokahamas are great.

Shop around and see who gets you the best deal. Sams and Costco are usually pretty competitive with their prices, but selection is not as good as some other tire places.

That price above on the Pilot Sport A/S is pretty good.

What do you think about the mich pilot sport 2..are they worth anything for a little bit of performance but more causal driving

They would be great tires. A very high performance tire. You will probably give up a little bit of comfort for the performance aspect.

love the sig

There's another thread around here somewhere where I brag about the performance these upgrades have given me.

As for the tires, I do business with a very large tire/wheel distributor and can get a good deal on any tire under the sun. Having more to choose from just makes the choices more difficult. I think at this point I am leaning toward some Michelin Pilot Sports

I have been driving on General Altimax HP all season 245/45HR17, for about 8 months. Very good ride good wear & no problems, and very good looking. $89.00 each at Tire rack

How about Pirelli P-Zero Nero...I ran these on my aftermarket 17's on my thunderbird....great ride....good performance and great durability. I got mine at a crazy deal at 100 a tire....I BELIEVE the new mustangs are stock on these tire and size so there are alot out there....

TireRack.com has a wealth of information on tires. When searching for a replacement for the OEM tires I was able to compare track data, skid pad performance, real world wet/dry traction, etc. It was a great help. I ended up with Yokahama S.Drive ultra high performance summer tires. They are much better than the stock Michelins and about half the price. I have no need for all season tires down here in the florida keys.

I went with BFG g-force Super Sport A/S's, They stick, and are very quiet.
I went with one width size up(245's), and one aspect ratio down(45).
They are something around 3/32'nds shorter in ride ht.IIRC

Excellent tire, and a bit meatier than stock.
