98 Mark VIII tail lamp chrome trim

the "fake" chrome trim around the neon tail lamp on my 98 Mk VIII is badly corroded from 10 yrs of winter salt. Can it be replaced? Where can I get such a piece. I'm talking about a strip about a half inch wide that runs the width of the deck lid at the bottom of the center neon tail lamp.

The only real replacement option would be finding a good one from a parted out Mark, you definitely can't buy it anywhere new.

Now if it was my Mark and I was faced with this problem I would sand the trim down and paint it body color like an LSC.

since i am an idiot and bumped an old ass thread, is the lsc trim on the side of a 95 the same as a bases chrome trim from a 98?
