Palin emails hacked

You repeatedly demonstrate an inability to actually grasp the subjects were talking about here. She wasn't just randomly hacked. Her password wasn't 1-2-3-4. A politically motivated group, aiming to embarrass her, intimidate her, or find dirt on her, used their skills in a systematic way to violate her personal security, publish her private information and correspondences on the internet, and jeopardize the safety of her children by publishing their photos AND her daughter's cell phone number on the internet.

This wasn't a "poor judgment" issue. This was a direct attack.

Again, there's no hate like liberal hate.

And we wonder why good people avoid going into public office. When the liberals are threatened, in their mind, the political ends justify the despicable means.

I am not surprised of some of the postings here on this form by some members.

Calabrio being a moderator I would hold you to a higher standard.
Open your eyes and read my post with out bias please.

I myself using Yahoo express concern about it being hacked or was a mistake made by Palin.

How is that showing inability to actually grasp the subject were talking about here ?

It is about Palin's e-mail and hackers right ?

If you have a link showing Yahoo having a security problem I would be very intersted in learing about it as I too use Yahoo.

all goverment agencies have .gov domains, if u leave yourself vunerable, u will become a victim, leave your house unlocked and u will get robbed. This is america, people aren't honest.

i guess liberals hacked into Paris Hiltons blackberry also, and liberals hacked my BOA acount. LOL

Although, this thread isn't about McCain's military history - I do believe some things shouldn't be just let go - the POW remark was very uncalled for - my Dad was a POW - and he is the bravest man I know.

I fart in your general direction :D

Thanks, fossten, for the movie idea. I haven't seen monty python and the holy grail for a while. It's about time I watched it again.

The Military still promote those who are MIA, and Obama has never claimed any sort of military qualification, and we picked our last politician based on his "political quilifications" and look where we are. It's time for a change.

So, using your logic, we should pick someone based on their military qualifications? Maybe their private sector experience?

And which of these categories do you consider Obama to have any experience in?

Its hard for a person who is a multi-millionaire to decide whats best for america, most of america aren't millionaires.
Obama and his wife are both ivy league educated lawyers.
In 2007, the Obama's made $4.2 million dollars.

To the contrary, Americans ARE honest. There are exceptions to that rule, but by and large, the vast majority of American's are honest and trustworthy.

It's interesting how liberals don't trust Americans.
Perhaps they are projecting.

Maybe they were. They might have had a sense of entitlement to that information.
But let's look at what the motivation was. Did they take your account information and then post it online to embarrass or intimidate you? Are you seriously thinking that this wasn't an attack on this woman motivated by politics?

You yourself have been quite vocal and even strident in bemoaning the loss of privacy rights and freedom thanks to the evil PATRIOT ACT. Your lack of outrage in this case is the most notable.
This isn't a case of our government snooping around in people's private lives, so it's not the same thing.

With that said, I do have a very deep hatred of hackers in general. I'd like to see the loser punk-asses all hung by their testicles in a public place as a warning to others. Hacking into ANY BODY'S email account to disseminate their private correspondence and data is a despicable act and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Happy now?

Yes, thank you.

So, as it should be the press is reporting the news, and the pundits will spin it in both directions. I doubt if it would be any different for Obama, (of course we could get into the whole liberal media thing here - but we have other threads for that). Maybe we should review the fact that she left herself vulnerable to this sort of action by not using correct channels. She should be using her .gov email account, for the emails in question that appear to be 'job related' - not private email accounts that obviously aren't that hard to get into.

My god, what if she had discussed national security - you know, you can see Russia from Alaska:)

I don't think anyone is talking about the constitutionallity of it. It is the fact that her email was hacked most likely as another intimidation tactic; typical of the left. You would never see anything like this from the right...

Infiltration of files seen as extensive
Senate panel's GOP staff pried on Democrats

By Charlie Savage, Globe Staff | January 22, 2004

WASHINGTON -- Republican staff members of the US Senate Judiciary Commitee infiltrated opposition computer files for a year, monitoring secret strategy memos and periodically passing on copies to the media, Senate officials told The Globe.

From the spring of 2002 until at least April 2003, members of the GOP committee staff exploited a computer glitch that allowed them to access restricted Democratic communications without a password. Trolling through hundreds of memos, they were able to read talking points and accounts of private meetings discussing which judicial nominees Democrats would fight -- and with what tactics.

Oh, hacking on a grand scale - the Republicans don't fool around do they? Actually I wasn't quite sure they had it in them;)

But, at this point - the Dems would be better off just leaving this alone - it will spin and die away -

Some polls (I know they are biased) are tracking Obama leading again - http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/

Perhaps he can see if Carville is available - "Its the economy stupid" could easily make a comeback...

LOL.

Didn't know about that.

Still...it is apples and oranges. I am talking about releasing private info as an intimidation tactic for political gain. This is, at best, spying, on the GOP's part. Different things all together.

Let me rephrase to make it clear. Republican's do not invaid privacy and publicly release info in order to intimidate political opponents.

Keep in mind that leftist operatives already released Palin's social security number, and (I think) phone numbers. They also released Michael Steele's credit info in 2006.

There is a pattern here of intimidation tactics that is not present on the Republican side...

Now you're equivocating. :p What exactly do you mean by "intimidate"? This bunch of basement-dwellers have intimidated Sarah Palin in what way and to what end? What "political gain" has been achieved here? How has this helped Obama? It seems to me that it would have the opposite effect if, in fact, these douchebags are his supporters.

We all know hackers suck....I use Yahoo and wonder if its a Yahoo problem or did she do something stupid like use her zip code for a password.

Face it anyone of us can be hacked if you use poor judgement or easy passwords.

I guess I will have to answer my own post.
First off I hope they throw the book at the a$$.

Details of this week's break-in, if authentic, were consistent with speculation by computer security experts who said Yahoo's "forgot-my-password" service almost certainly was exploited. The mechanism allows customers to retrieve or change their password if they can verify their identity by confirming personal information such as birthdate, zip code and the answer to a "secret question," such as a childhood pet's name or school mascot.

Palin's hacker was challenged to guess where Alaska's governor met her husband, Todd. Palin herself recounted in her speech at the Republican National Convention that the pair began dating two decades ago in high school in Wasilla, a town near Anchorage.

I know I have a hard time grasping the subjects around here but it was not that hard to hack her with the secret question she used.
Pretty close to 1,2,3,4 if you ask me, she gave it up in her own speech.

from the AP Article above...

"The break-in of Palin's private account is especially significant because Palin sometimes uses non-government e-mail to conduct state business. Previously disclosed e-mails indicate her administration embraced Yahoo accounts as an alternative to government e-mail, which could possibly be released to the public under Alaska's Open Records Act."

That is what I find is odd - why is she using non-government e-mail to conduct 'government' business. It sounds like her and her staff are trying to circumvent the 'Open Records Act."

The son of state Rep. Mike Kernell has been contacted by authorities in connection with a probe into the hacking of personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Kernell told The Tennessean.

Kernell, a Memphis Democrat, said his 20-year-old son David had been contacted by authorities investigating the hacking of Palin’s personal e-mail account, the newspaper reported on its Web site this afternoon.

Here’s what “rubico” had to say about his motive, per MM’s reproduction of his comment in yesterday’s post:

I read though the emails… ALL OF THEM… before I posted, and what I concluded was anticlimactic, there was nothing there, nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped, all I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family

I then started a topic on /b/, peeps asked for pics or gtfo and I obliged, then it started to get big

Earlier it was just some prank to me, I really wanted to get something incriminating which I was sure there would be, just like all of you anon out there that you think there was some missed opportunity of glory, well there WAS NOTHING, I read everything, every little blackberry confirmation… all the pictures, and there was nothing, and it finally set in, THIS internet was serious business, yes I was behind a proxy, only one, if this :q:q:q:q ever got to the FBI I was :q:q:q:qed, I panicked, i still wanted the stuff out there but I didn’t know how to rapid:q:q:q:q all that stuff, so I posted the pass on /b/, and then promptly deleted everything, and unplugged my internet and just sat there in a comatose state

Wow, that almost sounds like he was paid/threatened to say that.

Hummm the only reason for that would be to hide info.
Are you hinting that she is dishonest ?
Trying the keep up here believe me its hard.

F'ing hypocritical crybabies in here. Some Repub/Conserv does something deplorable, 'he was just some crazy a-hole and he doesn't represent the Repub/Conserv side.'

Some supposed "liberal", "leftist" or lefty-whatever hacks into an email account (which is ####, I can't stand hackers or virus programmers), this is somehow "typical liberal hate."

I sold it about 2 years ago, missing it though, thinking about getting another.

Well, with all the "intellectual honesty" flinging about, I figured different.

How about providing an example of the hypocrisy so there's something to respond to.

If you can demonstrate some kind of pattern, you might be on to something. But in the past week or so, we've seen Gov. Palin, AND HER FAMILY, attacked in the most vicious, ugly, and personal terms. Almost immediately after her selection as running mate, "somebody" leaked her social security number. So this is certainly politically motivated. And since it's happened before to other Republican candidates, it's not an isolated example either.

Make your case and put away the misplaced, absurd indignant outrage.
